Help in Resolving Bathtub Tap Handle Leak

Guys,

Attached are the pics of my bath tub handle. Unfortunately there is a leak under the handle. It's a under 1 year old new house.
Can you guys help me how to fix this and what tools I need? I don't see any screws to open on this.
And I'm new to this kind of stuff :)

You might find this useful - also if you know the Brand of your tapware that would also be very helpful

However being new build house/apartment i would use the building warranty (contact builder/landlord and save youself the time, stress and money of possiby invalidating the warranty and get a professional to fix it for free

    • Thanks Mate. It is BASE brand.

Yes, I will contact builder. I just want to know how to fix these kind of issues because it's my house built by Porter davis. And it is under 1 year.

contact your builder if its 1 year old home, you are covered for 7 years

    • Thanks Mate. Sure will do.

I just want to increase my knowledge on these kind of home issues.

    • They'll most likely keep rescheduling you until you give up and do it yourself

    • 7 years for serious issues, 2 years for minor issues, 1 year for just the tap hardware with the manufacturer. But in any case OP is covered.

Hi, whilst it's not the exact tap set that you have I would imagine that most BASE units would be of similar construction.
    Take a look at page 2 of the PDF linked here;

Most likely you'll need to replace the cartridge. If you have a Bunnings near you the people in the plumbing department would help you - they will be well across the brands used by the volume builders.
In regards to building warranty maybe just check that stuff like this is covered, e.g., washers, light bulbs, squeaky hinges, etc - this may fall under stuff that it expected to be general on-going maintenance. If it's covered then great, ask the guy they send out to show you how to change it in the future.
They're fairly easy to change - first one is always going to be more challenging, just remember to turn your water off at the mains before you start and open the tap to release any water that wants to come out.
    Good luck!

If you were to fix it yourself you need to turn off the water at the main tap (outside), turn on a lower tap (to drain water away from the one you are working on) then prise off the little blue/red button under the handle. Under this button you will find a hole and in the hole is a small screw with an allen(hexagonal) key head. Undo this by turning it anticlockwise and the handle will come off. Then you will be able to see what else needs to be removed (a cover and very large nut) to be able to remove the cartridge that will need replacing. Take the cartridge with you to a plumbing supplies place (or take measurements and photos if you can't leave the water turned off).
