Aloha Building in QLD Charges My Credit Card

We had holiday in Gold Coast and unfortunately booked Erica's OceanView holiday apartments which had only positive reviews (not many).

After arrival we suddenly found that it is actually notorious Aloha building. I don't want to describe how bad was the room, dirty, rusty and with cockroaches. Anyway upon arrival I've signed security deposit and provided my credit card details to the reception. After we left reception sent message about broken sliding door and they immediately charged $200. I've requested proof (photo and video) and reception replied that they have proof but they can't provide them to me without their manager. I've called multiple times and every time reception told me that manager will call me back. Obviously no call back.

Today they charged me another $200 even without any notification. I've blocked my card and disputed both transaction.

What else should I do?

There is nothing else to do other then to wait for the bank to reverse the chargers.

Probably best you let them keep the 2x $200.
Fly back over there and actually finish the job you were hired to do. Break all the doors and windows, and feed the pet roaches. It's only fair.

Report it to consumer affairs in your state

    • Thank you. Reported to Fair Trading NSW

  • Do you get to post a review on their website ? Or advise them you're about to unless they reverse the charge/s.

    • I left bad review but they don't care - their reputation is very low anyway.
