Tree Residue / Bug Removal - Car Paint Cleaning

Hi everybody,

Recently we parked under / near some coastal trees, and the car paint is covered with small 'dots', which are very difficult to remove.

Car wash liquid didn't remove it, only hot water with lots of scrubbing, or picking with fingernails.

If anyone has had such an issue, what's the most affordable safe way to remove it, as water isn't removing them all.

Would a product such as this work?

Or should I buy a clay bar kit (seems pricy), then it will also need to be waxed?

Thanks

  • Try Bowdens Own range. I use them and they work quite good. They are more expensive but Australian owned and made.

    • Thanks.

Any specific product? Their bug and tar, or clay bar, or other products?

      • I cant recommend that without having a look at your car. But the sales guys at autobarn/Supercheap auto would be able to help.

  • el cheapo dishwashing liquid, concentrated and warm. Let it stand and use sponge.

  • Do not use a kitchen scrubber. It removes the sap spots well - but will scratch the paint.

    Source: I did that :'(

    • Yeah, we've previously done that and learnt our lesson.

Hence why now seeking good advice.
