Does it still work for new users after you subscribe for the 14-days free trial?

    • Yep, if it has expired it should be fine. I used the 14-day trial and I just got the $1 deal.

This post seems to be relying on Microsoft not yet expiring the deal (potentially due to time difference between USA and AUS).

    It is essentially: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/415100

Already + voted that deal. Don't feel like + voting the same deal twice.

Anyway, if you haven't taken advantage of it yet, you probably only have hours left.

    • No problem, feel free not to.

  • Duplicate - Can't seem to find the earlier post, but I've seen it posted here at least once already…

    • -1

Well when i was posting it the only ones I could find were expired. It's a deal that they do every now and then. If you can't find a duplicate, it's probably not a duplicate.

Mods allow this type of posts. Technically, the deal finished on 7/1/2019. However, US west is still 7/1/2019 with a few hours to go.

Personally, it feels like a dupe, but mods allow this so no point reporting it. This post simply takes advantage of the fact that the original post set the expiry to 7/1/2019 midnight AU time (I don't think OZB let you set the expiry to a USA based timezone) so there are a few hours where this deal is still active.

      • You're assuming that was my intention, I didn't notice that the last post just expired. Either way if this helped a few people get the deal i'm happy I missed it.

Game pass is amazing value, imagine Sony will bring out something similar next generation, big problems for them if they dont.

    • +1

Yeah I really hope they do.

    • Thing is, Sony has the user base at the moment, Microsoft does not. This is what happens when a console doesnt do too well imo

      • +1

Well hopefully Sony learns from Microsoft's arrogance this gen and their own arrogance last gen. These companies rarely let their humility last more than a generation though.

Yeah MS Backcompat, gamepass and then Games with Gold leaves a lot to be desired from Sony's services. A lot was with MS's handling of the Xbone reveal, so we shall see…
Games as a service is definitely here to stay and on the rise

@JMxoxo: You are forgetting PS+ came first and GWG was a response to it…. Sony introduced it to warm people to paying for PSN…. MS introduced Gamepass as their sales were terrible.

@JMxoxo: PlayStation Now Revenue 3x That of Xbox Game Pass

While GamePass is great, it has one issue. Third party titles are there for a limited time and better titles are often only there for a few months (inconsistent and not easy to tell when titles leave GamePass until 1 month remaining). Most third party titles in GamePass are somewhat dated. As for first party titles, honestly, for 2017, only Forza Horizon 4 is a stellar first party title.

Backward compatibility won't be an issue for next gen consoles (PS5 and XB2) since PS4 and XB1 use x86 based architecture and so will the next gen consoles.

Backcompat and Games with Gold are all about past games (honestly, most Games with Gold games are not that exciting). GamePass - if it weren't Microsoft decided to put latest first party titles in, it would basically be old games. After finishing RDR2 on XB1X, I'm more interested in 2019 games (inc. upcoming exclusives from PS4 camp).

  • Can you cancel renewal straight away and still keep the access for next 30 days?

    • +2

Yes, in fact you should cancel the renewal right away.

  • Has anybody been able to take up this offer more then once using a different account but using the same console? I'm aware that you'll lose things such as saves and achievement.

    • Yes, but I used just use Web browser - because I had to disable the renewal right away.
You don't lose saves and achievements. GamePass is shareable. I had account #2 on GamePass for 1 month last month, I still play with my main account (I did have to download newer GamePass games by logging into account #2). I've added GamePass to account #1 a few days ago.

P.S. My XB1X is setup as a home console.

      • Thanks netsurfer. Good to know this works as I have no plans to do this indefinitely. It will stop me buying those games available only digitally and that I'll likely won't play again for a while once finished (like Hellblade and Ori). Cheers.

Sweet, I have got the $1 more than once now, thanks!

  • I'm not much of a gamer and have an Xbox 360 I keep around just for the DVD player. I'd like to check out some games. Would I get any benefit from this, i.e. does it allow me to try out a few games for free?

    • Someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure this is Xbox One only with the exception of the 'Xbox Play Anywhere' games being also available on PC eg State Of Decay 2 and Sea of theives

      • +1

It does works for the PC as you mentioned, my Forza 4 Horizon gaming proves that, and it doesn't work for the XBox 360.

    • No, XBox One only.

Based on info provided in the page below:
      https://www.finder.com.au/how-does-xbox-game-pass-work

Is Xbox Game Pass compatible with Xbox 360?

While Xbox Game Pass features Xbox 360 titles as part of the overall backwards compatibility feature of the Xbox One, it's not a service available on the Xbox 360 console itself.

      • +1

Yeah, not 360, but it does work for the PC though.

  • Sometimes these are stackable with current members, where you can tack on an extra month for $1.

Unfortunately in this case it isn't :(.
