Just over Aldi 60 day return - wasting my time trying?

Hey all,

I impulse bought a $200 item at Aldi knowing that I could return within 60 days. However I lost the bloody receipt!
Now I have just found it when moving house, and would you believe it - today is day 61 (or 62 if you count the purchase day)!

The box is unopened and in perfect nick - do you think I would I be wasting my time lugging this in to try for a return?

Cheers!

You'll probably get to return it without fuss.

The 60 day rule is there to set a defined boundary for people looking to abuse the system. It is not a magic number of days where good will is waived.

    • Cheers - I was hoping that was the case. Ideally the store manager has room for judgement rather than 'system says no'.
The item is pretty bulky and the closest store isn't very close, but hopefully all is good.

  • Good luck.

You're still going to be hoping for a goodwill return because one of my returns was denied on day 66.

I totally forgot about it and was going to use the item for a project that never materialised.

Anyway, in my case, it was only $20 and is easily repurposeable.

OTOH, the manager who denied my return said that after the 60 day return period, then can only accept returns if the item is faulty. Since my item was still sealed in it's heat-sealed clamshell, I couldn't claim that.

  • whats the item?
could make a difference… if its electronic they might refuse/as it depreciates/stock doesnt get replenished…
if its like a chair or home item then they should be ok

exactly. if it $200 worth of bread then I doubt they'll take it back…

This probably isn't worth a post on Ozbargain - just goto Aldi and try your luck or call the store and confirm if going to the store is a waste of your time.

If you apply that logic, we'll lose 75% of our forum topics.

        good :P

      • If 75% of the forum posts are of the same quality as this then good riddance I say!

  • I know its past 60 now but if you lost the receipt you can show them ur bank statement and they will look it up for you.

  • I had an item well over 60 days and the manager at a random store (that I don't even go to normally) refunded no questions asked. It helps if it is as it was sold - box/packaging in good condition.

    • The aldis I go to asks for name, address and id like drivers license, It’s a bit much but I wanted my $150 back.

All good - the first guy said sorry - 61 days is still past the limit and that he'd get in trouble for refunding.
However I asked that he check with the manager who said no problem!
