Wii U Pro Controller?

Been searching the net for the (now) rare Wii U Pro controller.

Amazon AU have them for $357.00 lol

EBG have the pre-owned ones which would have been smashed for years.
Can the Nintendo Switch work on the Wii u, or any other suggestions that doesn't include non-genuine Chinese knock-offs?

Catch have them. Probably the best price you'll find for genuine.

My bad. All the photos look like the genuine controller.

          Totally agree.

  • By "Can the Nintendo Switch work on the Wii u", do you mean does the Switch Pro Controller work on the Wii U?

No, not out of the box. However you can mod the Wii U to use any bluetooth controller.

    • By "Can the Nintendo Switch work on the Wii u", do you mean does the Switch Pro Controller work on the Wii U?

      Yes.

Bluetooth? I didnt think Wiiu even had bluetooth capability?

      • It had Bluetooth 4.0. The Wii U Pro Controller was a wireless Bluetooth controller.

Unfortunately it was useless for things like BT headphones.

  • Eb games have them for $36 at the moment.

    • Has OP stated…. "EBG have the pre-owned ones which would have been smashed for years."

Missed that. I wouldn’t necessarily say they have been smashed for years. You might get lucky. Just check them out before buying. I managed to pick one up that was still brand new in the box.

        • True. Used equipment lottery conditions apply ;-)

OP - my recommendation would be to keep an eye on Gumtree. In the last 12 months, I've picked-up a couple of BNIB genuine Wii U Pro Controllers for around $40ea (plus postage).

    • Agreed. I picked up 2 for $60 today in pretty good condition.

      • wowies…
        ok ill do that.

      • @festivalmayhem sell me 1!

  • I believe you are allowed to inspect them at EB Games. They let me check out a couple of 3DS consoles I while back before buying (good thing too, the first had screen issues). Other options for second hand are Cex, Gumtree, Cash Converters or eBay. Stock for brand new would be rare and likely expensive.

Bought one of these off ebay second hand before christmas in perfect condition with little usage for about $45 delivered

I know its a 6 year old system, but surely some giant warehouse has boxes of unsold Pro Controllers?
Not like 100% of the manufactured controllers were all sold

      • Even when the Wii U was being sold, this was sometimes a difficult item to get. Most shops only held them in small quantities, if at all. Keep in mind they only sold 13m consoles worldwide so demand was relatively low.

  • ive bought 3 preowned from ebgames and all have been in excellent condition. you get a 3 month warranty as well, so thats probably going to be the best/easiest option if you have an ebgames nearby that actually has some in stock.

    • ok might bite the bullet and try a pre-owned.
Problem is with these controllers is that they can look to be new, but used over years.

      EDIT:

Checked EB Games and noticed this:

THIS CONTROLLER COULD BE A THIRD PARTY MODEL. COLOUR CHOSEN AT RANDOM AND MAY VARY

They are pretty easy to confirm if genuine or not when you inspect in person.

      • i saw that on the ebgames website as well and never bothered ordering online, just go in to an actual store and check it out. odds are you will get a genuine nintendo controller in perfectly good condition. if not - return it.

something else worth thinking about is getting a spare genuine wii u battery for the gamepad while you still can, as those things dont last all that well ive found. you can still order them brand new from nintendo australia directly if you give them a call, but i wouldnt hold out hope they will be around much longer. the high capacity batteries (wup-013) cost $35.

  • Interesting. I bought a Wii-U Pro controller years ago.. never used it!
