So what I want is:

Save $1500 and buy something a bit simpler?

She's probably cheating on you to let you spend that much on a bbq

  • Personally, BBQ’s are pretty basic things, which more or less utilise a hot plate rather than specific fan forced cooking technology. If I had $2K as a budget for a barbie I’d probably get a decent one second hand, and either save the rest, or go on a holiday, or something. It’s not to say that I’m trying to say that you’re wrong for wanting a good barbie, no I completely understand, I’m just saying that I think they’re a bit overpriced for what they are, and you can get something quite good for not that much outlay.

I did find a place years ago in Sydney (online) that sold Japanese grade BBQ plates. You will never cook things better than on a quality plate and it will last a lifetime.

Unless you run a Texas BBQ restaurant you’ll never use all the features of a $2000 BBQ. Be smart and visit a good specialist store that will guide you through this decision.

    kamado joe
it ticks none of your requirements but its going to better than whatever gas burner you spend 2k on ;)

    • Seconded that or a green egg

Charcoal is superior taste to gas and you can do so much more with it

  • Go a beef eater

  • I think your budget is too small for all the features you want- especially if you are going for the latest tech with radiant quartz burners

  • Mate I was in the same situation. Tossed up on the Ziegler & Brown Turbo Classic and the Bunnings Matador 6 Burner Titan Hooded BBQ With Side Burner. Lots of love and hate for the Ziegler. Product reviews ranged from best ever to hating it. I ended up going for the Titan and I'm really happy with it. Generates a consistent high heat, natural gas conversion kit available in store (even though they say they aren't). Allow 4+ hours for assembly if you get one.

  • Visit a Tucker BBQ outlet and you might get some change for $2k
