Fixed Price Servicing - Leeway on The KM’s?

My partner purchased a new KIA in late 2018, which comes with a 7 year warranty with fixed price servicing at certain intervals. The local dealerships were not able to accept a booking until the middle of next week, and the drives to work will push it over the KM value (3,000KM as a complimentary initial service).

Is anyone aware of whether these KM values are set in stone, or if there is leeway (specifically for KIAs, or in general)? And would the fact that this is a complimentary service and not part of the warranty services (15,000KM intervals) make a difference?

I searched through their website but couldn’t find anything concrete.

They're not that fussy about particular set KM especially if it's already booked in. You'll be fine.

First service they will just do a check. They'll ask you if you want an oil change for $150-$180. If you can't change the oil and oil filter yourself, just gave in and get dealer to do it or see if you can get it done slightly cheaper at a non dealer service centre. Worth doing to flush out any contaminants from the motor bedding in. IMO.

  • Call the dealership when they first open and ask them

    • Partner will have to be gone in the car for work before they’re open. No public transport running that early, and uber would be massively expensive. Sounds like we’ll be fine, though.

      • I mean call them on the telephone and ask them this question.

  • They should be fine with going over the kms. It's either time period or kms, whichever comes first (with Toyota anyway).

I thought my extended warranty ended six months ago according to the paperwork I have, but when I rocked up to my car dealer on Saturday to get my car serviced, they were all so extended warranty service and I was all ??? OK sure!
