PS4 Gaming Console PRO - Input Needed for Games?

Hello Gamers,

I have Sony PS4 Pro bought from US. Will like to check the following (sorry for my ignorance):

a) Do you know if games bought here in AU will be compatible with the console bought in US?

b) I see lot of posts/deals mention [PS4], would that imply it will work for PS4 Pro by default? (Assuming point a) is valid)

c) Any good recommendations for PS4 Pro games for Child of 10 Years.

Appreciate your inputs.

Best Regards,
Andy

    a) Yes, games are region free.
    b) Yes, they will work.
    c) Not sure how competent a gamer they are or what they like? Knack, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man, Gran Turismo? Final Fantasy series maybe?

    • Wow that was super prompt. thanks.

The 10Y old is a beginner level and has asked me to check on following games:
      gt5
      COD - infinity warfare
      unchanted collection

Will review your recommendations based on age ratings. Thanks again mate!

      • No problem. COD might not be quite suitable for a 10 year old but it's your judgement.

To make the most of the PS4 Pro's capability, if you have a 4K HDR-capable TV, it's worth checking that both 4K and HDR are enabled in the settings as sometimes by default it reverts to 1080p. You'll find plenty guides online for this.

        unchanted collection

OH DURRR DAD IT'S UNCHARTED EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS EMBARRASSING ME

        • :D :D :D Roger that! Got it this time mate:

          Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

      • Don't think those games are suitable for a 10yo, especially GTA 5.

          GT5 meaning Gran Turismo.

GT5 - Sure. Racing games are fun for any age

COD/Uncharted - I would be careful with these. These are rated MA 15+ and are not suitable for a 10 year old kid. Depends how mature the kid is and even if you are okay with it, it probably warrants a conversation.

It bugs me when I see parents buy games that are totally unsuitable for their kids. Parents wouldn't take your kid to watch a R rated movie but for some reason they are okay with their kid playing a R Rated game.

TLDR: Be a parent and don't just get whatever the kids want.

  • I dont think GTA 5 is right for a 10 year old.

Watch Dogs 2 will be a better choice considering the age. And its newer.

Yes for consoles I was using a Japaneses version for 5 years no problems

the only problem was with the accounts if you have multiple accounts from different regions /US/EU..etc and if you bought content as Season pass,DLC,addons from different region's store as the game's region, you won't be able to use them with them together

Or from what I've heard most fortnite players are either 10 years old or act like they are 10. Probably want to avoid fortnite tho.

    • Probably want to avoid fortnite tho.

      Why ?

I was going to suggest fortnite. My friends kid plays it (about 10yo) and really loves it and was super excited and proud when he almost won a round etc.

I have never played it myself.
I would suggest crash bandicoot and racing games and maybe cartoonee type fighting games (can't remember the name of them, but I think maybe dragon ball z, or similar are on ps4) .

      • Why?

As I said, the people that act like they are 10. Lots of adults screaming for attention on there. Recent example the guy going through court at the moment when he slapped his wife around after she turned his game off.

        • Yes, I am aware they got some terrible publicity from 1 isolated incident.
I thought that average demographic playing fortnite was kids of about age 10 though, and 'yelling' would be OK, as part of the game and excitement and urgency of it all. I believe you can play in teams, so yelling to others in your team would happen in any team situation. Happens all the time in sports.

          • @Flanders: It's not really an isolated incident if you follow trending youtube clips. I see lots of adults on youtube playing fortnite acting like kids. Maybe if there was some way to only allow certain age groups to just play among their peers then i'd agree it would be good

            • @LikeMike: there was another incident where a mum has to call up cops (in NSW) as the kid continued to play the game non-stop for 2 days and got abusive. But i believe that could happen again with any game being addictive!
