If your dog pulls, this will not help. It will only make it easier for you to hold them back, but will do nothing to reduce them trying. It takes a bit of training with treats, but a halti is very effective at reducing pulling without hurting your dog.

Can be got from petbarn via routine 25% off codes for pretty cheap - https://www.petbarn.com.au/petlife-halti-head-collar-black

    • I have also used a product called gentle leader which has a strap over bridge of nose. Very effective. Never used a harness but seems to be many out there.

      • @kizashi
I actually have one of those at home
I haven't used it yet, as I've not watched the training DVD yet

        How big is your dog?

        • It was used on a boxer. No longer have him. But now just got a boxer puppy. They don't like it on nose but is very effective and they walk without any pulling on lead at all. Without it would tug lead and pull you whole time. Boxers are very strong dogs. Highly recommend.

          • @kizashi: Thanks
            I'll try it
My lab loves to pull when he sees another dog and wants to run to him/ her

            Hopefully he won't anymore

@docians: That is what my previous boxer did. Should have full control with the lead. They only walk at your pace as puts pressure on nose when they tug. Is simple, but really works

  • Have a ridgeback cross american staff, and this "no pull" would just give her more leverage to pull. It also puts pressure on the shoulders which will cause discomfort and possibly damage to the joint. If you have a dog that pulls, definitely go with a halti. We tried the martingale choker but she'd rather strangle herself than walk at our side. Training hasn't stopped her from pulling :(
