[Scoopon] Credit Card Charge Back - How?

http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/2305/just-39-for-120-worth-o…

I bought 4 of the above scoopons and found out the business has closed down. I also purchased 3 vouchers for a salon for 1 per person not per member. Another deal for 1 per member would not even allow me to gift one in their system. All three vouchers were in my name for my friend, sister and myself to use. My sister used a voucher and they said I could ring and use my voucher any time to my sister and my mother as I gave my sister my appointment I had booked (A month in advance).

When I rang to book my appointment and was told I could not use my voucher despite having different barcodes there would be no way for them to keep a record of if i had used the voucher or not and would not take my vouchers. Very frustrated. I know people unrelated with the same name common name.
I don't know how to do credit card charge backs and I am out of pocket if I do two of these?. My hair voucher entitled me to two visits. I was not using 3 vouchers for myself. http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/1775/just-59-for-2-visits-to…
I was under the impression you got a manicure and eyebrow sculpture each visit but was told this was not the case. I understand it's a good deal anyway but found it misleading.
My mother had really good things to say when they went to Pure Image however the manager was rude to me and hung up when I asked if they could call me back and explain why I couldn't use my voucher.

Just frustrated!

  • 1)(call up your bank) or (ring them up)
    2) Explain your situation, evidence, you may need to fill in a form
    3) Ask for a charge back

NOTE: it will not be instant

  • Have you tried contacting scoopon about this? You may probably get a refund quicker though Scoopon. But if it gets no where with Scoopon, then last resort is to do a chargeback through your bank.

  • Anyone know the time limit to for the charge back…I used the commonwealth debit one. I can't find it on their terms.

I purchased the pure image in Feb and the Chimney within the last two weeks. I am waiting for a reply 4 days now. I just want to know my options I guess.

  • Far out! How do you know The Chimney has closed down for good? Apparently they closed for a couple of weeks while back, but then were open for business.

    Please let me know. Thanks.

  • For businesses that close down, Scoopon and the rest will refund your money per their FAQ

What about if the business I've got my Scoopon with goes belly-up or disappears in ways I can't even think of now before I get to redeem it?

If you can't redeem your Scoopon because the company can't provide the good or service we'll refund your money.

That one is pretty black and white and you should have no problem there.

The hair salon problem needs for their rep to talk to the rep who organized the deal. This may take some time.

A chargeback is the last resort. Generally it can take a couple of months to receive your money while the CC company investigates. To initiate this, you need to call your bank or CC and mention a chargeback or you purchased goods but they are unable to supply and will not refund. For Citibank cards, they send you a form in which you check whatever box applies to you (fraud, goods not supplied, whatever) and supply evidence (receipts, etc.). The merchant gets notified of a dispute and they can provide their evidence.

Secondary to that, you can always take them to tribunal (aka small claims court) but that process will take time and possibly court fees.

      HI,

I am beginning to disagree regarding the CC chargeback being last resort. I think the CC companies have a time frame within whichyou must lodge you chargeback. There may not be time to deal with innumerable "tickets" and responses that do not address the issue at hand.

Scoopon also says ANYONE can use a scoopon so she shouldn't have a problem with that scoopon. I think that if the business rejects the scoopon due to its own error, it should be available for refund immediately as who would want to go to a hairdresser where you had to argue with them to get in the door? Would you get even reasonable service in these circumstances?

  • my thoughts exactly voteoften.

I have contacted scoopon but alas no reply so far.

  • I have had no problems in getting a cc chargeback twleve months after the fact but it does take at least 6-8 weeks to process.

  • I had no issue with Scoopon refunding my money when the restaurant at Sanctuary Cove closed down. It took them less than a week to rectify.
