  • I just saw another post about this - I read elsewhere that there is no separate charging unit and there is no autocutoff after charging (I guess in the batteries there has to be as they are LIION)… Reviews suggested the batteries dir quick…still tempting for the price on the 2 pack for odd jobs… lithium tends to last a decent amount of time if kept 80% charged or so & I don't use drills every day..

You don't need an "autocutoff" for Li-ion, just voltage and current limits. And temperature, if doing fast-charge.

I have one of these. There's no battery cradle, instead the battery just has a little socket that the cable plugs into. It's actually better than having a cradle as cradles are another useless proprietary thing to lose or break. I can charge this drill using the cable from my last drill (a masters brand one which died).

It's a very basic drill. It's single speed, feels fairly cheap, but has worked ok for me so far (limited use).

  • This may be a dumb question but does this not come with drill bits? Do you have to buy drill bits separately?

    • +11

No such thing as dumb questions, we all started at the same place. Generally speaking, drills don't come with drill bits (certainly not in this price range anyway). Sometimes they might come with 1 or 2 clipped-on screw bits if the drill supports it (phillips/flathead types) but that's about it.

Hang around long enough and you'll find deals on those though, I've got 2 or 3 sets from previous deals around the $20-30 mark each.

    • Not that it really matters for this quality of drill, but you are generally better off buying the specific bit that you need for a job. They are cheap enough ($2-$5) and are far better than big kits where you get a glut of rubbish that you will never use.

    • Thanks so much for the responses guys!

so i have a drill and a driver, but i dont have a drill/driver for my countersink bit…this is almost cheap enough for me to buy rather than buying a drill bit with countersink built in lol

    • +1

Oooh yeah! Do it! That's actually what I used my B&D Cordless for… left the Countersink bit in it and used it purely for that. The crappy little 1.5Ah battery lasted for weeks before needing a charge.

      • hey thats great to know a like-minded person! haha i'll be picking one up for sure!

I just managed to minimise/streamline my power tool collection and now only have Ozito PXC so although this is crazy tempting I think I'll just go grab one of the cheapie PXC drills instead.

  • I think el cheapo drill like this would be perfect to drill my concrete slab.

    • +1

I think el cheapo mains power drill would be perfect to drill into your concrete slab.

      • +1

Mains power drill isn't what you need, you need a battery or mains powered hammer drill or rotary drill.

When used with the correct masonry bits, it applies force toward the surface as well as the twisting motion to extract the debris. You will struggle to drill through any masonry/concrete without a hammer drill, regardless of how it's powered.

  • Why don't buy the hammer drill for an extra $10. Will cover you for most drilling scenario.

Innaloo store sell it for $20

    • I went to a store and asked this question.. they said hammer function is not really really a hammer in this one…. Better off buying the 29 version.

      So I got one.

      Cheers!

  • How does this compare with the fully loaded kit from Kmart (for $35)?
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/12v-cordless-drill-set/2172…

kmart is 12V, bunnings is 18v. Which means what?
