    'Display Resolution: 1365 x 768'

Not too good given 50inch panel, but still, pretty cheap for 650

    • Correction: Good enough unless you sit closer than 2 metres from your TV set.

Your eyes can't resolve the difference between 720 and 1080 at normal living room distances unless you have natural 20/20 vision, which more than half the population in Western countries doesn't.

I get what you're saying, but unless you're a total videophile, this is more than enough for the average joe.

Besides there's only two channels that broadcast in Full HD, so unless you're going to be watching a lot of Blu-Ray, which no one does because it's a rip, then… "she'll be right".

  • how old is this bad boy…

    • -2

Its an Brand New Samsung PS50C430 not refurbished or secondhand

    • To be fair… it is cheap at $650 for a 50" Samsung

For ppl like me on a budget but hoping to get a big screen, this would be a good option I supposed.

Much better than Soniq or some low end brands?

Yeah May 2010 model not that bad for this price and size.

  • edit. fixed

This model is so old not even a developing country would buy it lol

  • "Delivery Only. Not Available For Pickup."

    Delivery = $49.95 making the total $699.90.

Rep can you add this to the title?

  • i'd prefer this for a non-full hd tv - comes with 12 mth pana warranty.

    • wow… that is cheap. But then again it's a factory second

    • -3

      no way 1024 x 768.

      • -1

Exactly, the picture would look on the soft side at 1024 x 768 on a 50".

I bought my parents a 42" HD Samsung plasma last year and I can easily tell it's not Full HD from anything less than 4m, but they still love it.

        • Easily tell how, when watching bluray?? Anyone who says they can tell any difference AT ALL between a 720p V 1080p in any other respect(by resolution only) is totally wrong. Only 1080p source(bluray ONLY) will look better on a 1080p set, and the difference is so minimal anyway. Any digital TV broadcast/SD DVD etc, will not look better on a 1080p set.

I'm telling you now, if you set this set up to play bluray at 1080p and compared it the equivelant 50" 1080p Samsung set blindly, from 4m back I'd challenge anyone to see the difference! I can comfortably say you wouldn't. I've seen industry professionals get tricked by this first hand. Often non-1080p source can actually look better on the lower resolution sets. Point being, resolution is not the be all and end all of a great panel. The old Pioneer 720p plasmas crapped on everything Samsung/Panasonic brought out in 1080p guise.

          Marto is right.

You're conning yourself, and your wallet, if you think you can see picture quality differences between 720 and 1080 TVs when watching free-to-air programming.

          That's utter nonsense.

With Blu-Ray, yes, if you're completely anal about video quality you will notice a smidge more of clarity, but then again, who gives a toss about Blu-Ray?
A good quality up-scaling DVD player will replicate the results as near as makes no difference, unless you just enjoy swallowing corporate propaganda.
