Comes to a very nice $180.20 with the help of 15% off gift cards.

    • +1

      Which gift cards?

      • there was 15 percent off everything at ebay uk about 1-2 weeks ago so people stacked up on gift cards then.

  • +1

Was $259 last night prior to the 20% code being active. Still a good deal

  • Anyone had issues with warranty returns with Futu?

    • +6

Yep, their after sales assistance is a disgrace, I avoid them at all costs now.

      • +1

seems pretty consistent with what Whirlpool tells me. Thanks guy!

      • Could you elaborate?

I had a 1070 Katana that was RMA'd and refunded all within 7 business days around November 2017. All I had to do was present a video showcasing my problem and no more questions were asked.

    • There is 15% restocking fees deducted in case of returns and postage also needs to be paid by the buyer.

    • I purchased from Shopping Express on Ebay that has the same deal with the same code. Would recommend as I purchased a Asus b350-f and they updated the bios for me in order for me to use the cpu. Were very fast and prompt, would hope they would honor any returns.

    • Bought a monitor from them that had a fault on arrival. When I contacted them about it they got back to me pretty quickly.

That said, they wouldn't take a return and wanted me to take it to a warranty repairer myself (Samsung repairs). I could have argued the issue based on Australian consumer rights but the repairer was near my house so I just took it in myself.

Great CPU just bought one last sale for around $209. Managed to hit 3950 Mhz which I'm happy with for now.

    • With stock cooler?

      • I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212x. Idle temps around 37c can hit 60c on load.
I'm not sure about the stock cooler as I havent tried it but I read a test online that said my 212x would be marginally better.

        • Did your 212x come with an AM4 adapter?

          • +1

@MichaelBuble: Yeah as long as you buy the compatible type as it was AM4 ready. Not sure why you're voted down for a question.

  • what is the best motherboard to pair with this at around 150$

    • look for something with a B450 chipset, and 4 dimm slots, Asrock Asus Gigabyte are all reasonable brands,

    • +1
      • Old chipset better to go with newer 4 series

        • Also would really try to spring for a B450 chipset. AX chipset is as barebones as it gets.

          • @BradH13: I don't understand - B450 is a lower tier than X370?

            • @shaolinbear: AX is lowest tier, B is midrange, X is high end.

I said get a B board because of budget reasons. I rock an X because money doesn't limit my builds. I know this isn't the case for most.

              • @BradH13: That board has an X370 chipset though. I don't know what you're trying to say.

                • @shaolinbear: Don't mind me, I was confusing that AX board for their A series which is their bottom end.

No idea why Gigabyte are calling that board AX370. That's not even a chipset. Haha.

                  Completely disregard everything I posted.

If you want a guaranteed future upgrade path, spring for the X470. X370 might do the job, but it's always better to have something newer.

    • If you can spring an extra 20 bucks can get MSI B450 Tomahawk. Apparently has quite a good voltage regular system and associated cooling for price. Seems to be the oft recommended board around the web.

I should add I purchased this board with the code here from shopping central for 172 along with a 2700x.

      • Or if you want a micro ATX version of the Tomahawk, you can go with the MSI Mortar B450. I'm quite happy with that one.

      • AsRock B450M Pro4 has 2x M.2 4x DIMM slots. And according to an online review it also has one of the better VRM cooling for the B450 microATX boards

      • Second B450 Tomahawk. Gets good reviews for all around motherboard with decent overclocking.

    • ASUS B450M-A

      • is there a standard ATX variant of this? prefer standard size boards oddly lol

        • I don't think thats odd, more spacing between heat producing components is good

    • just a frendly reminder. confirm with your store or the manufacturer the bios of the motherboard before buying it. or if u really want the motherboard ask them to help and flash the bios before shipping it to u. MSY charges $30 for flashing bios and CPL charges $50

      • isnt that only for 350 series boards? but thanks ill take note

      • Pretty silly they charge. I understand it's a bit of time but Shopping Express did it for me for free.

    • From MSI, the B450 Pro Carbon and Tomahawk had pretty good reviews compared to models from other brands.

      • Carbon is the best B450 motherboard but tends to be fairly expensive and not worth the $50 premium in my opinion.

  • Anyone got any thoughts on running this with a 2070? or would they suggest something different?

    • This is perfectly fine to handle a 2070. If you went with an $800 cpu over this the performance difference is fairly negligible.

      • What about a 1080 ti?

        • Shouldn't have any issues. The only place you'll encounter an issue is with CPU heavy tasks like video editing, and even then the issue is relatively minimal. With gaming it depends on what resolution you're running at. 1440p or higher there will be no bottleneck. If you're running at 1080p 144 Hz then you may notice some slight bottleneck on some games (a few fps lower than a top of the line Core i7)

The bottleneck calculator has it 2.4% bottleneck which is minimal and well within margin of error.

          https://thebottlenecker.com/calculator?d=8f-6-1-64-64-5bce1f…

        • Depends on what you play, the resolution and the FPS that you want. For example do not get this if you want to play PUBG at 1080p with a 144hz monitor. I switched with a friend my 5820k (he had a 1080 GPU) because he was getting 20FPS more (100 to 120 at that point). I am playing at 1440p ultrawide and for me it was not a difference because I ran into GPU bottleneck issues before getting into CPU bottleneck.

    • I've got a 2600 with a Gigabyte RTX2070 Windforce and it is fine. The 2600 usually works out better than the 2600x, IF, you plan to overclock yourself.

  • Any sale links to 2*8GB RAM in the compatibility list?

    • Check the motherboard you're gonna be using. They usually have a compatibility list. Generally I'd recommend 3000MHz or 3200MHz for Ryzen 2.

  • Maybe it's time to finally upgrade the i7-3770k

    • Are you sure? that is still a good enough CPU for most people.

    • lol….i still have an i5-2500k driving a GTX1080 :P Can you say CPU bottleneck!

    • I bought a Ryzen 2600 to replace my trusted Core 2 Duo Q6700 from 2007.
Still use the Core 2 daily to edit Full HD video: adding Windows 10 and SSD drives has done wonders for my old PC.

      • About to do the same, on a Q6600

It’s shocking that ram will cost more than these great CPUs

  • I'm thinking of upgrading my son's PC, currently a Gigabyte GA-970-Gaming w/hex-core (circa 2016?).

He games a bit, but mainly needs more grunt for his work (from home). He's a software engineer and many times the things he needs to test/implement take forever to complete (& no, I'm not 100% sure what he's doing, but he did say it's the CPU holding things back).

Should I try to get this & all new everything, or is there a decent CPU upgrade path using his current board? It's running great & has everything else he needs.

    Thanks for your advice!

    • 2600 is fairly mid range, entry level enthusiast CPU. It's a good CPU but I'd consider it low end for gaming/workstation activities. The best thing about it is the bang for buck. With that said though, Ryzen 3 is coming this year and will support AM4 so if you buy an AM4 motherboard with the 2600 then it's as easy as a BIOS flash and throwing in a Ryzen 3 CPU for a quick upgrade.

  • Does anyone know if you get The Division 2 with it?

  • whats the next best price i could get i missed out :(
