A Question about AmEx Statement Credit--Possibility That Statement Credit Disappeared?

Ok… so I believe I have registered my 2 AmEx cards for the Domayne deal and have spent $750 on both cards recently.

I then went on to my AmEx account and found that they have only credited $150 to one of my cards but not both. I used the live chat function online and the person told me that I have only registered one of my cards but not both… but I am quite sure I did both (why wouldn't I?). Now that the person told me that I have only registered one card, I am unsure now because I didn't triple check before I spent the money.

Is it definitely my fault that I did not actually register the card?? Or is there a chance that it's AmEx system issue?? Anyone experienced similar issues in the past? If it's only my fault, I guess I can only bite the bullet. :(

Thanks everyone.

Don't you get an email when the saved offer is redeemed? So you should have gotten two emails if you used both cards.

    • Unfortunately not from that card. I have saved other deals in that card before but I have never received any emails from Amex but I have always received the statement credit afterwards!

When a saved offer is redeemed at a store I always get an email within minutes with the subject "You’ve just used your Amex Offer" So I know straightaway that I had used my saved offer and this eliminates the second guessing. No need to wait till they update the statement credit. So I'd tend to think if you didn't get an email perhaps it was never saved on the card.

        • That's what I am saying though… I have used this card for many other offers but I have never got any emails from them, but I have always got the credit!

I guess it was my fault that I never paid any attention before…

@birdnw: You don't always get the emails. Check your Amex account online under offers. See if it is listed under 'available' or 'saved to card'. I have had them listed under 'saved to card', and sometime after I have used them they disappear from view, and I have received the rebate.

  • If you don't have any evidence of 1) having saved the offer to a particular card, or 2) an email confirming redemption of a particular offer on a card that the offer was saved to, then I'm afraid you're SOL.

For future reference, if you only have two cards and are interested in redeeming an offer that you think you have saved, take a screenshot of the offer having been saved against your card. The offer line item will say "saved to XXXXX" where 'XXXXX' are the last five digits of the card that offer is saved to.

    Hope this helps.

    • Yes, I think I should be more careful next time!

I think I have learnt this the hard way.

  • When the offers are saved to the card, either via the email or a manual link, they still appear under "saved offers" in the online portal.

They even change to "redeemed" or "expired" and would show for a couple of weeks after either event.

    • I guess I can only wait and see if it will appear again. Otherwise it may mean that I didn't save the offer. Thanks!

  • The only time statement cred went away for me was when my card got cancelled and a new one was reissued with a new number.

Otherwise, it's always in saved offers.

Only exception is like the shop small ones where you can use it 5 times but it goes away to "Used" after one use.

  • It happened to me once. I think it was a Westfield offer that disappeared from my card.

    • did you end up getting the statement credit or you just didn't use the offer in the end?

      Thanks!

      • From memory they gave me credit as gesture of goodwill. It was some small amount like $10 or something.
