$50 Gift Card for User Interview/Testing on 7plus

Hey all, I'm a long-time listener, first time caller. (Admin - feel free to delete if not allowed!) I'm currently working as a UX / User Researcher working for Channel 7 on 7plus and thought some of you on the forums would be perfect to get feedback from. I'll be conducting some user interviews and testing sessions every couple of weeks in the Sydney CBD over the next few months which last about an hour. These are mainly a one-on-one interview deep dive into your online/offline video viewing traits with some design usability testing. In return you'll receive a JB HiFi $50 gift card (subject to change - I'll always confirm this in the invite). This is open to all even if you don't know what a 7plus is, haven't watched any Free To Air for a while, or you haven't watched anything outside of Netflix or YouTube since 2015 - I'm trying to get a broad snapshot of viewing habits, feedback and input from a wide variety of people as possible.

So if you are able to travel to the Sydney CBD and keen, then fill out the form I created - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SHZG29J - and I'll send you a list of dates as they come up. If you have any questions then feel free to shoot me an email - [email protected].

What may change? Amount or retailer or both?

Retailer may change as I might end up getting a few more options including JB Hifi. The amount may go higher or lower depending on the time scheduled for that week's sessions but currently I have $50 for the hour scheduled in.

      • can you get some generic ones like coles group or something?

I'll give you a feedback for free…stop having the same advert playing 5 times in a row.

Yep, this annoys me too. It actually shouldn't happen and from what I understand it's more of an ad tech issue across the whole industry. Feedback like this is good (especially when it's free) - and it is being worked on.

      • Yea and no ads for MKR, if I was going to watch it I would, I dont need to see these ads, they even run when MKR is on.

Sometimes it gets stuck on the same ad and I have to kill the app.

  • I'll give you a feedback for free…stop having advert playing every 5 mins or so would be good. Also the program schedule time can be more routine.

  • Would you be available on the 24th February or is that too late? Will be in Sydney for a concert but nothing to do during the day

I hate it when ads are louder than the show. Makes me turn it off straight away. normal tv doesn't do it, not that hard to get right either.

    • Analogue TV always did that

      • It's actually banned if you look it up, just the law doesn't apply to online TV

        • Well the TV companies did some banned things then I guess lol as it has always been like that

          • @Quantumcat: This is another pet peeve as I've found myself just muting straight away whenever it happens on most of the FTA apps. This is also another ad-tech issue - from what I understand it's caused by so many differing industry standards from client side ad insertion which don't match the levels of the content. It's gotten way better and less frequent (or corrected quickly if it does come up) as our engineers have worked on the back end to minimise this and even go as far as changing all the levels of our archive, but I do think this will be a thing of the past soon enough as the streaming industry matures.

Man, I'd want more than $50 to discuss my online and offline viewing habits….
That could be an embarrassing interview ;)

Have a standard time for shows to be uploaded every night. Drives me insane when I get home from work at 11 and things haven't been uploaded from hours ago that day but the day before they were uploaded well before 11. Just pick a time already! At least then I can go do things in the meantime without refreshing waiting for that magical upload time.

    • Generally speaking it takes the length of the program after it’s aired to be uploaded and ready to go. But it’s not exact, sometimes things can get delayed (like the news for legal reasons). I appreciate the insight - this is the type of stuff I look at and report back on!
