Purchase Alienware M15 Laptop Hard Drive Storage

Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase the following laptop with the 20% off promotion eBay are offering:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Alienware-M15-Gaming-Laptop…

I've currently got a spare 500 gig SSD at home and was wanting to know whether I could use this for the laptop in addition to what it already comes with?

Thanks

    From the manual

    Storage

Your computer supports one of the following
    • One 2.5-inch hard drives
    • One M.2 PCIe solid-state drive
    • One M.2 PCIe solid-state drive and one 2.5-inch hard drive
    • One M.2 Intel Optane and one 2.5-inch hard drive
    • Two M.2 PCIe solid-state drives

The listed one has a single 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD so another 2.5inch drive or a second M.2. PCIe ssd will work.
This laptop seems pretty expensive for what you get BTW.

  • Yes you can.

  • Thanks guys!

I'm open to other laptop suggestions if you have any?

I was looking at either of these two but thought I would got for a bit more grunt

Don't really know a whole lot about the laptop market.

    • You can get an Alienware with a GTX1070 for a bit less than the one in your original post. It is an older model, having last gen i7 but has more memory and much more powerful graphics. It a lot heavier at 3.5kg. Here
There are also these ones with current gen cpu but i5 instead of i7 that I posted here for a lot cheaper

  • Are you in an urgent rush? New RTX laptops just came out so we should see pricing start to move downwards.

To answer your Q though, as long as you don't have the larger battery (optional) on the m15, you can use a 2.5" HDD (assuming it's slim enough).
