Expired Myer Gift Card Can Be Used Again?

Hi All,

I have 2 Myer giftcards that was lost and I just found them again in one of my bag.

Unfortunately they expired. One of them has the date of issue of 8/2014, and the other one does not have date of issue on it. Both gift cards have conditions of use printed on the back with "This card will expire 2 years from the issue date".

I read somewhere earlier that the law has changed that makes giftcard no longer has expiry date and we can use the expired gift cards again.
Is it true and is there any chance for me to redeem these gift cards?

Would like to check it first before going to Myers & talk to the consultant there as sometimes, the consultant does not even know about it.

  No, you cannot use your already expired gift cards anymore. The law is for GC purchased after March 31st 2018.

  Even with the new rules of 3 years you are out of luck

  Your best bet is to call myer and see what they say , someone might do something if you are polite

  There's always a chance, but in this case extremely slim because even the new laws only mandate a min. 3 year expiry period for gift cards, which would've expired for yours by now.

  Still, if you have the time, go ask and see if they'll make a one-off and extend your cards.

  I would contact them and give them the sob story about only just refinding them. You might get lucky.

  They might move the funds onto a new card for you if you go in store to their customer service area and ask.

  While on this note, LPT from almost eight years of working there: David Jones will extend your expired gift cards for another 3 years provided it has more than $5 on it.

  Another alternative is if they don’t renew them for you, have some stuff with you ready to buy and politely ask if they can offer additional discount.

  I've had half a dozen expired myer gift cards reactivated over the last few years. Just call the number on the card and they'll sort it out. Cheers!

  OP try to use the card online and it may work, I did that and it worked
