  • I haven't bought that exact one, but I was in at Hobbyco Sydney CBD yesterday talking to the heli guy about these in general.

His advice was to buy the lightest one (NO METAL fuselarge parts) so when it does "fall from the sky" due to user error or battery run-down, then it will have a higher chance of surviving the crash due to its light weight.
Also as it's light it gets a longer flight time… 8 minutes.

So I pointed to the wall and isle of choppers (5 diff brands from memory, ALL priced at $39.95), he said the one he'd buy to last would be the Revel Air Patrol one. I grabbed two for the kids, be sure to grab one of each IR 'channel' so they an be used simultaneously. Most of the isles contents (didnt check the wall) has Freq A (theres B and C too), but eventually I found a B channel also.

Man they're fun!!! Youtube the Revell micro helicopters, none showing the Air Patrol but they all fly similar.

  • can you go on the ebay link and tell ,me if that helicopter is good or not? You can write '5888 rc helicopter' on youtube… There is a lot of videos and the thing i like about this one is that the 2.4ghz allows more range… You can control the helicopter from a distance of 30 metres
Also you can fly this outside….

Can you please tell me specs of the heli you are talking about?

  • I want one of these too they look like great fun. $39.95 at hobby co eh? not bad. Are they good quality? i know you can get some for like $600 they look bloody cool but very technical.

  • No bargainhunter I can't tell you if its good. I don't (want to) own one. Specs can show great things but in reality it could be a very different story.

If you're set on this one then buy it and tell us how it went.

Outside is a no go! Too much light usually (IR transmit and receive) and even in the VERY LIGHTEST of GENTLE breezes the chopper can't hold it's location.

  • dont get it. its rubbish. if you want a decent 4 channel.. i bought a cheap. one like that and it was rubbish i returned it and wasted 3 weeks in postage..

with the refund i did the smart thing and got this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170610…
replacement parts available everywhere. 2nd most stable heli ive ever owned.
