  • Got it this time (2X). It was hot as hell in Adelaide yesterday and had to buy bottled water for extortionate prices from servos a couple of times. Thanks, OP.

      • +5

Took two cold 500ml bottles when leaving for work and went through them in the first hour.

        • -4

1l on a hot day will not be enough … but you usually find plenty of spots to refill (depending on your work).
(Hard to carry more than 1l (except you are in a car) … so you will end up at the servo again as I doubt you will carry your 2x 500ml 20 packs with you … hehe)

@mini_wombat: Thanks, DAD! Yeesh… dis guy.

I have an insulated drink bottle ….keeps cool , can be refilled and tap water is cheap …work is great get as much free water as I can drink or carry ….

  • +22

20 plastic bottles + a truck driving around to deliver … no thanks. As OP mentioned … we really should rethink what we buy.
    Cheaper at the tap.

This is good for Uber driver

I'm surprised you are getting down voted! Reusable water bottles are a no brainer - generally easypeasy to refill wherever you may be. Saving pennies and the environment!

  • -2

Thanks, environment aside it's very useful to have bottles of water around the house for when you need them.

e.g. when you have a guest over

    • +16

Do your guests get insulted when you offer tap water in a glass?

      • +7

        Larry David would be!

      • +4

        In Adelaide they would…

      • +11

        Haha, I hope not.

But I just think it's nice to have the option to provide a sealed bottle when you need it.

I could come up with some example of times they could come in handy, here:

        1. To hand to a plumber/electrician/tradie that would appreciate it (or to bribe them into doing a better job).
        2. To give (chilled) to the one Postie that actually rings your doorbell (on a hot day).
        3. When kicking out your last night's mistake.
        • -8

Terrible examples. Buy a water purifier.

    • +4

"environment aside" is the worst possible way to lead up to describing the benefits of something.

  • +3

Thanks. Good way to bypass the plastic tax in QLD and NSW

    • +2

Do you still get the 10c refund? It would then become $3.83 for 20 bottles.

  • +4

+1 for Amazon charging the same everywhere.

  • +2

On sale at Woolworths for $5.50 at the moment. https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/365023/mou…

  • +1

Take empty bottles for 10c container deposit recycling 20 x 10c (in SA, NT and NSW), brings the net price to $3.83

  • Cheers op. Handy when camping - freeze few & use as ice blocks in esky. Forgot I had $20 credit in amazon account from stuff up on previous order, so cost me nothing & will return bottles in Qld for $4 in total. Free post with my prime…. win - win.

  • Bought. Thanks OP

  • Does it matter if I use prime coz it’s still free shipping… says delivery is Thursday

Another product that is getting smaller. What happened to the 24 packs of 600ml?

    • These have always been 20 x 500mL

  • limit of 3 until delivered it seems; won't let me buy even 1 in a new transaction.

    • I used to buy these five at a time, no idea why the restriction? Maybe to stop small shops from buying them?

  • +1

Bought some last time and regretted it instantly. Multiple deliveries, realised I "saved" a whole $2 or so per 20 bottles and then had to deal with recycling or getting rid of a carton sized box for each. Was pretty damn average on both consumer and environment! I only use them when heading out boating so bugger that again from Amazon.

    • Depends how you view it, I use the boxes as a 'drop sheet' for painting.

      • Yeah I hear you… I have enough boxes for a full house move and commute a lot so online shopping general means I'm constantly recycling or palming boxes off.

    • Ah hehe yeah those bloody boxes… Filled the recycle bin just from my Amazon purchases a few weeks back :p

I should probably stop coming here :/

  • duped

  • Sold out I guess :/

Melbourne has among the best tap water in the world. Anyone buying plastic bottled water in Melbourne should be waterboarded with Mount Franklin water.

    • -2

They vote Greens, nothing is good enough for them.

    • I concur. Ive loved in Melbourne, Queensland and Adelaide. Melbourne I liked and didn't need it filtered.

  • missed it

  • yet they charge more than this for one bottle at some entertain events - football, concerts etc.

    • How else are they going to make their money.

      • +1

i was just highlighting what sort of profit they were making.

        • Buying direct from CCA for businesses isn't as cheap as you might think. You can almost always go to Woolies or wherever else and pick up the products much cheaper when they're on special. Doing so risks your contract with them though (eg, lose your supplied fridge(s) and deliveries).

Plastic water bottles are destroying the planet, don't buy these.

    • +2

So are electronics! Throw all of them away. I’m sure you’ll do the right thing. I won’t be expecting a reply.

      • So is using power, cars, cleaning products, food waste, pretty much everything we do destroys the planet..

        • Classic "what-about-ism", poor logic.

      • +1

The electronics I own are not thrown out a day after purchase as plastic bottles are. It's been widely reported that the plastic bottle problem is out of control, our oceans and waterways clogged with plastic rubbish and micro-plastics. Not buying plastic bottles is easy.

        • -1

I recycle them, not throw them out. I guess it’s ok to preach if you can justify it to yourself.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Preaching is not needed to highlight well understood facts. Yes we have an e-waste problem too. But it's silly to point to other problems in an effort to deflect attention from plastic bottles, posted here as something to obtain because they're cheap. The cheaper they are, the more damage they do.

            • -1

@cerealJay: I’m not deflecting attention. I just find your comment ironic.

  • +9

Clean filtered cold water refill stations literally everywhere in every city in Australia. Cmon guys..

  • -1

    thanks op got 3

  • +1

Theres very few places in the country where buying water would be acceptable. Our tap water is generally fantastic, and buy bottled water is frankly bizzare and irrepressible
