Buying New Mattress Suggestions

Hi

Recently went to forty winks and they suggested below mattresses for me based on their bed matching system as I sleep on my side.

Forty winks are pretty pricey so wondering if anyone has suggestions on another good retailer with KS plush mattress'. Shame the zzz atelier mattress' don't come in plush firmness

  • Get ZZZ

    • I asked them and they said none of their mattress are plush firmness

      • +1

Then buy an overpriced nasty thing from 40winks

If you want a comfy top thing, then buy a thick mattress protector

Firmness and plush can be had together

  • heaps of second hand beds on gumtree and local facebook marketplace, i know it sounds yuck, but have never had any problems.

  • Idk how often it comes up, but amazing deals can be had on ex-display models. Sure, they have been tested out by hundreds of people, but it's not like anyone has slept in them overnight or anything.
I cannot remember what matress shop it was, since so long ago, but it was one of the major chains, maybe forty winks.

I went in during a big sale, everything was like 30% off or something to start with, then because I purchased the display model, they reduced additionally (as they should) . Ended up with matress and base combo which retailed for over $3000, for about $1200 delivered.
In my circumstances, they had same model but slightly different look etc came out, so they needed to get rid of display model ASAP, because they need to display exactly what they are actually selling, rather than old discontinued model.
Definitely worth asking around. Massive saving if you are in luck.

  • We recently upgraded from a queen bed to a king. $200 bed frame from ebay. $300 Zzz Atelier mattress from ebay. Both delivered for free within 5 days. $500 total. We have never slept better. (Thank you OzBargain!)

My only regret is putting up with the horrible mattress we had for 10 years and not doing it sooner.

I'll never pay thousands for a bed and mattress again from a bricks and mortar store again.

I rekon you should buy a Zzz Atelier mattress and try it for a year. Honestly, for $270-$300 it is worth the risk. You might end up loving it. Besides, there is every chance you will buy some other mattress for $1,500 and hate it after a few weeks.

    • Can you share which seller you got your frame from?

Keen to buy a mattress form them as sounds like great value but they have said below which I respect them for

"All mattresses which we currently sell range from medium-firm to extra-firm. This means the softest mattress of all in our range is actually a medium-firm which is already firmer than a regular medium. While they may still be suitable for some side sleeper, it would not be the kind of plush mattress that you seek. We prefer to sell our mattress to suit our buyers so our buyers would enjoy the product they purchased from us. In your case, we fear we do not have a mattress that fits what you're after. We wish you the very best in finding a mattress that will gives you wonderful night sleeps. "

      • The name of the seller of our frame was tommy_swiss. Quite basic but perfectly fine.

Yes I read that too from Zzz Atelier. I did have some concern, as my wife likes a soft bed, but she has been very happy with it too.

I sleep on my side and find it comfortable.

Everyone is different though so perhaps you will hate it, but for the cost, was worth the risk for us.

  • There are warehouse/manufacturer outlets. Try their beds as usually a lot cheaper than the chains. The big brand stores all don't have the same brand models which is all set up so you cant compare. So all you can do is test out the beds and make sure they are on sale as there is a huge mark up on them. That industry should be audited by ATC. False Retail prices I reckon.

    • I agree, when I saw beds going for $10,000 plus I couldn't believe it.

  • I am a side sleeper & my memory foam (medium firmness) is better than the waterbed I had :)

  • Decided to go with a medium after some more testing in store

This is what I'm currently thinking

    • Aussie made, nice with wool, cool, but does the wool come from here? I hope so. Very nice bed with a 10 year warranty, so you have to go through the whole thing in 10 years
