Anyone Had Luck with Getting Annual Fee Waived for St George Amplify Signature Card?

My first year with the card is coming to an end and it's set to renew next month. Anyone had any luck getting the annual fee for second year waived talking to the customer service?

  • you're better off closing the card and get a different one with the bonus signup points.

    • I know what you are saying but don't want a new credit check as might buy a house in next few months.

      • A credit check won't affect you home loan application as much as your credit limit.

  • +1

I have twice with another bank.
You need to call them and get the the cancellations dept.
You need to inform that you have been offered better options by other banks before your annual fee kicks in. They will put u on hold and check that you spend enough on your card before they might waive your annual fee.

    • I have done this recently with AMEX and BoM. I did heavy spending and neither wanted to waive the annual fee. So good luck!

    • @ssa02: cool. Mind sharing which bank you had success with for everyone's benefit?

My GF recently had luck with ANZ also on her Frequent Flyer credit card.

      • It was CBA.
But this was about 5 yrs ago and I also did spend quite a lot.
Doesn't hurt to try, then if no luck, switch to another company anyway.

  • I got it waived the first year. I just tried to get it waived for the 2nd year and no go. Even after spending over $42k in the 11 month period leading up to the call.

  • can you jump between Bom and St George and get sign up bonus ?
Or does the back end treat it as one bank
