Recommendations on Gaming Laptop around $1500

Looking for a mate who wants a gaming laptop around 1.5k mark. Fifo lifestyle makes desktop a difficult option
He would want to be able to run BFV.

He was keen at the Dell G3 series with i7 and 1050ti at 1200-1300 after eBay 20% off recently. But I didn't think dell was known for gaming other than the Alienware…

  • There have been a few past deals for 1060 6gb and i7 laptops, don’t bother with the 1050ti. I have one in my desktop and it’s only just enough power for battlefield v

  • Just had a look and the dell g5 15 the 2018 model is around 1500 without sales and has a i5-8300, gtx 1060 6gb, 128gb ssd, 1tb hdd, 8gb memory. Link is https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/cty/dell-g5-15/spd/g-series-…

I would recommend the G5 with the GTX1060 over the 1050Ti's for better gaming performance. Dell's G-Series range are good value range while the Alienware line-up are the premium Gaming machines with the higher end graphics (1070s and 1080s) and all the extra bells and whistles.
There is also the ROG GL502VS with the GTX1070 in it for even better gaming. I currently own one and its excellent for gaming (although the laptop has a couple of odd quirks). Last time Treasure PC eBay was selling them refurbished for $1560 after 20% off code. They're currently sold out and the code the 20% off code expired but may come back in stock again.

  • For what its worth at this price range I would try get a GTX 1070 laptop for around $1700-1900 AUD delivered. Have seen it around before but that would be my pick for a laptop. 1060 is still good but the extra few hundred dollars will be worth it for the 1070 upgrade and sometimes you can even get 1440p screen res display.

  • have a look at metabox. they make gaming laptops and are based in australia so quick customer service. i purchased mine from Kong Computers who also have a bunch of other options for gaming laptops.
