Demo Isuzu MU-X Price Negotiation

Howdy all,

After some advice on demo or new price negotiations for a LS-T model.

Brand new $52,999 without add ons
Demo 20kms $46,999 without add ons

How much am I able to haggle down from both?

Cheers.

50%, at least according to most online 'experts' 😂

I’m only here for the “I always offer 50% off as a start and never go over 20% discount.” morons.

I've had to deal with my fair share of them in person at dealerships over the years as well. Don't miss it, lol.

Neither sound good - a quick search seems to suggest demos that appear to be fully kitted for $50k drive away (in titanium paint pack etc).

Think you will need to be a bit more specific what colour they are… but either way, how hard of a haggler are you?

    • Not hard of a haggler me, which is why I'm asking for tips hah.

      • Demos are existing vehicles so it really depends what demos the dealer has in stock, wouldn't it?

  • Brand newprice, start your haggling at $47k, used example above, start at $40k. I would be very surprised if that used vehicle didn’t have $5k of fat in it for the dealer. The new car price would be around about $2~3k of fat.

To get your best deal, don’t tell them how much you’re willing to spend and don’t go in until you are absolutely 100% ready to buy and prepared to sign on the dotted line.

    • The demo is 20kms, not 20,000kms…

      • Oh… hahaha… one of those “register a heap of these to boost monthly sales figures and fire sale them at the end of the month…”

And here I was thinking… “wtf sort of dealership keeps a demo on for 20,000km…” :D

Both vehicles will be at least 2018 models at least. Check build date on car and point this out. Alot of dealers have sales targets so might get better deal at before month ends. Try another few dealers and put a silly price. They work your way slightly up. Dealers are quiet at moment, so should be after sales. Do not be desperate and be firm in your dealings. Put to them happy to buy today, but if can't get price, will move to next dealer. Be prepared to walk out and wait for follow up call next day.

  • It's not a Ranger or Hilux so go hard. Wait til June when 2018 stock will be keenly marketed.
