Any Such Thing as a Power Bank Where You Can Charge It Using Qi Charging?

Recently looking for a powerbank that I can just pick up and go and saw this on Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/Wireless-Charging-Station-MANGATA-…. Then I started thinking, if alternatively there was a powerbank that you can drop on to a Qi charging pad overnight and charge the powerbank to go, like the item above. Wondering then if anybody has heard of a similar product?

  • Yes.

    • But does it charge the powerbank through Qi? Not a powerbank with wireless charging.

  • yes, google….. there are a few out there, even Kogan has one.

Wireless charging is inefficient. Wireless charging a widget then use that widget to charge another widget is even more inefficient.

You're better off using conductive charging.

    • I think he might want one that itself charges wirelessly, regardless of how it later charges the attached device (eg. through a wire). It does make sense, since the charging pad will be stationary at home but wireless charging is impractical if the two are rattling around in a pocket or backpack on-the-go.

Since a few people seem confused, the answer to your question is no. AFAIK there are no power banks that can be recharged itself with wireless charging. Manufacturers wouldn't deem it viable as it'd be more costly to have 5/10W Qi charging added when they can get the faster 18W QC3.0 or USB-PD added for less.

    • Ahhh, thxs for answering

      • And so it does. I can't see it becoming widespread though.

        • Can't find it for sale in or to Australia anywhere though. And I can imagine it being hugely inefficient - would take a long time to charge itself. And even longer if you've something on it charging from it too.

@HighAndDry: It's using Qi V1.1 so it'd be restricted to 5W or 5V/1A. Not even worth it.

  • Found 1: the description and product photos say that it does:

    https://www.amazon.com/MobilePal-Next-Generation-10000mAh-Wi…

You can always buy it on eBay/Amazon and return it if it doesn't meet the description which says it does qi wireless input.
