My Dad needs a new laptop, his current one is nearly 10yrs old.
Requirements:

- 8GB RAM or 4GB with 16GB Intel Optane
- 15.6" Full HD Display (IPS preferred)
- 500gb SSD, or 1TB HDD. Or anything if the HDD is user upgradable easily without voiding warranty.
- SD card reader
- USB 3.0
- Decent webcam
- Integrated GPU, no graphics card needed
- Battery life not important, mainly used plugged in
- No Touch screen, or tablet mode required
Preferred:
- Decent speakers
- Decent build quality
Budget $700-$1100
This model Asus Vivobook was about $670AUD when Amazon US shipped to AU. Unfortunately it costs more now. The 1TB hard drive makes it slow, but installing a SATA3 M2 SSD (which are cheap as chips now) makes it fly. The process of cloning the HDD to an M.2 SSD was easy (with Macrium Reflect, which is free). It's free of bloatware IMO. It weights very little, and the 15.6" full-HD screen is fantastic.
Just saw your note about Webcam; this model has a poor Webcam.
