Free VPN to Use in China?

I'm currently using Windscribe which works well but only have 50gb to use and that can go quick, just looking at other good options? Any good one that I can stream videos and upload to facebook? Looking something reliable as I go back to China twice a year and around 2 weeks.

Why don't you upgrade to the option that doesn't have a download quota? There's always deals popping up for them. I would steer clear of free VPNs in general

    • I might look into that, i think 100 to 150 gb would be enough for 2 weeks.

      • Jesus 100-150gb what do you do on your device. Are you sharing it with like 3+ people

        • It goes quick when watching videos in China and I've got a lot of time to kill as its not a site seeing trip, just relaxing and on the couch and I can't speak Chinese so most time the internet is required 80% of the time.

          • @cr12330: Also I recommend walk around for 5 minutes after every hour to prevent eye damage and being short sighted

            • @[Deactivated]: This time, I got the NBA to watch, they like almost show a game every day so that a good thing so I can watch that on TV, cut my internet time and might catch the Superbowl over in china as well :)

built in VPN in Opera? Beat China by using a Chinese owned browser

    • AFAIK that VPN is used for tracking like most free VPNs and Opera is developed by a Norwegian company … you might like Vivaldi which is developed by former Opera devs to be like vintage Opera but using Chromium.

      • Opera is owned by the Chinese now, it's also powered with Chromium.

  • Windscribe works in china?

    • Yes it does, I was there in August last year and it was working then.

  • Now in China, for some reason, Windscribe is only working for my Laptop in China, not working on my new phone but using Betternet VPN and that seems to be doing well, Downloaded Turbo VPN, it works but it doesn't like to stream videos as good as Betternet. I have Star VPN on my ipad and that working good for videos as well.

China Unicom launch a auto-VPN SIM dats service in Hpng Kong where auto a VON SIM allowing in/out of free data when go inside China, which is currently the only allowed channel of using the VPN in China.

  • Just a bit of an update, some VPN will work with certain devices.

Using Macbook and ipad - Windscribe, star VPN will work.

Not working - have not tried as I'm happy using these.

Using Huawei on wifi or mobile data - Super VPN and Star VPN

Won't work Windscribe, Turbo VPN, Betternet VPN, Keepsoild VPN.

I have a feeling that China Greatwall of firewall is getting much harder on a Huawei, I did manage to get Turbo VPN to work once but since then fail to work.

If anyone else has good free VPN to used let me know, I travel twice a year to China and it frustrating that they are tough on these companies, makes me question buying a non Chinese phone in the near future.
