  • For PC, are they all digital? never bought PC games from EB. Also would games like Assassin's Creed on PC be on steam or uplay?
    Great price for warhammer II

    • +3

The vast majority of PC Games are physical in the sense that they come in a game case. Inside some cases though there are only cd keys, others are cd keys and discs but you will generally have to download additional content upon installation even when using the discs.

The Assassin's Creed games as well as other ubisoft titles will all be Uplay keys.

      • I see, thanks.

    • +1

As far as I know all games are physical copies at EB, and when I got assassins creed it was a Uplay version

      • +3

I believe all retail copies for Ubisoft games are redeemed through UPlay. If I'm not mistaken, the steam versions redirect you through Uplay anyway.

        • The problem for me is not having multiple clients, it's updates. Take battlefield for example. One thing I am just getting sick of is wanting to chill out and play some battlefield only to find out that it has a new 5GB update (I'm on ADSL2+ so you can understand why that can be frustating). If the game was on steam it would have at least been updated with all my other games. I'm pretty sure ubisoft games can be updated through steam despite the fact that they require the client anyway.
I understand that BF games have always been on origin but I was just using it as a scenario example.

          • +1

@Ostrk: Then keep origin open? Seems like your own issue, your steam games are updated because you obviously always have steam open but you don't have origin open so how exactly are they supposed to update?

            • +1

@Kozhutki: I don't want to have five launchers open in the background 24/7 just to keep my games up to date. Takes unnecessary resources and in origin's case it's a shitty client that often just doesn't login automatically.

              • +1

@Ostrk: I've always found Origin to run better than steam. Still, you can't complain about something not updating when you're not allowing it to update. Do you only have 4gb of ram ?

                • +1

@Kozhutki: I have 8GB but several clients; steam, origin, battle.net, uplay & epic games. I can either keep one of them open or all of them. Keeping all of them open can affect performance since some games already take up more than 8gb of ram and I don't want to manually close them and reopen them when I launch and exit a game.
I am being whiny because it's not that inconvenient, yet with every minor inconvenience it just builds it's way up to one large problem. I had this problem with Origin on my old systems too so it's probably my slow internet (Thanks Australia) or the client is just bad. Most likely the former.

                  • @Ostrk: Mmm, I have 32gb of ram so being aware of resources isn't that necessary. uPlay is using 350mb and origin is using 200mb compared to steam using 120mb and bnet using 150. I remember steam using way more a few years ago so it's good that they somehow reduced it. Might be worth upgrading to 16gb someday, as new AAA games come out the ram requirements seem to drastically increase.

                    • @Kozhutki: I really want to upgrade to 16GB and yes some games already on my PC struggle with 8GB. RAM is way too expensive though - at least for me. Perhaps that is my fault for not being financially well-off but I've already spent like 1k on my setup (peripherals+PC) and I don't want to spend any more.
Another issue is my slow internet, so if I have more than one of the clients downloading it will just kill my internet everytime I launch the system. At least with steam I have a bandwidth download limit. Yes this may be my fault but I live in one of Perth's biggest suburbs fairly close to the CBD so is it really my fault if they can't even give us fibre when my relatives in Pakistan have it?

                      • @Ostrk: Yeah ram still is really expensive, compared to SSDs which have gradually decreased over the past few years. I think most clients have bandwidth restrictions, I know origin does, as does uPlay, bnet. Can't comment on Epic's launcher though.

I have adsl+2 as well, should be getting HFC very shortly, maybe I'm lucky with my speed, I usually get 1.5-1.7MBps, which isn't great by today's standards but it's bearable.

        • I think you're right. The Division, FarCry Primal, Assassins Creed Black Flag and Assassins Creed Unity all are redeemed through uPlay. They were for me. They come with discs but for each of those games I just put the key straight into uPlay and downloaded. I cannot imagine that this has changed for their more recent games.

All those new 3DS/2DS owners who got their console from Amazon's clearance sales, if you have even an inkling of liking for puzzle games, get Picross 3D: Round 2. Great for all ages, perfect for road trips. Of all the $9 titles on that list, it's in my opinion the best one by far.

PC wise, Civ 5: Complete for $12 is a steal as well.

    • Hasn't Civ 6 been down at this price before though …?

      • Not Civ 6 Complete.

    • +5

Don't tell me what to buy!

    • +2

Good tip on Picross. If you don't have a store available near you with stock for pickup, note Amazon has it for $14.95 delivered if you're a Prime member (free shipping). Works out cheaper than EB with shipping added.

      • It's cheaper now. I have this absolutely unfounded and unprovable conspiracy theory that Amazon has algorithms that scour the web for sales and lower prices on other sites with the same products, and automatically adjust their prices on their site.

    • I enjoyed the Picross games on DS so I took your advice. Also got Fractured But Whole for PC for $12 (isthereanydeal says historical low of $19.xx) and Star Wars Battlefront (2014) for $4.
Yeah postage added $3 to each of those but still I'm pretty happy.

  • +6

Amazing price for Warhammer 2. Never seen it even close to that low.

    • +1

Yeah shame there's no stock anywhere near me :/

      • It's $25 delivered for both TW:W1 and TW:W2

Should note that eso summerset collectors edition is $47 for all platforms.

Nice price but still too expensive.. for me

  • Grabbed Battlefront and ACRogue for $4 each

    • I stole them

Bayonetta for $9 seems like a good price if you can find stock https://ebgames.com.au/nintendo-switch-231762-Bayonetta-2-Sp…
More Switch games under $10 https://ebgames.com.au/nintendo-switch/video-games?priceFrom…

    • +5

damn whoever got that Bayonetta games, nice bargain

    • Wonder if any stores at all have Bayonetta in stock? I've looked at most of the major areas out of curiosity and none have shown up as available

Edit: Scrolled through all 19 pages of stores and none had any stock at all, curious as to why the website doesn't have it marked as Out of Stock like Fire Emblem Warriors

      • Still early in the night, there was one store left that had it - Whyalla

    • +1

Fire Emblem: Warriors - Limited Edition $4 gone lol

  • -4

Everything but nothing for the switch? Fail.

      • +2

Zelda is a fair price for the huge amount of gameplay. Most games are shit though

      • The Switch has likely convinced me not to buy another Nintendo console, not because the console sucks, but because Nintendo have jumped on the online monetisation via DLC in a big way, I didn't expect that to be the case with Nintendo, I thought they would be a holdout of the traditional gaming model but they are up there with the worst offenders.

The console and games are actually great though, but I don't want to support companies that charge stupid amounts for DLC content.

        • Their DLC for Xenoblade was worth it, got another 40hrs out of it

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA for $4 is a steal.

very little stock of this unicorn

I've finished it. I'd advise to spend your time elsewhere.

  • +6

Cheers dude got Torment tides of numenera day 1 edition for $4 for xbox :)

    • The gameplay was quite average but Torment had a very interesting setting.

  • +3

Free post coupon would be sweet….

    • +1

Yer I picked 3 games, one $4 and one $9 and shipping was a extra $15.**

      • It'll be great when 2 of 3 games get cancelled and then you're still charged $15 to ship the $4 game :(

        • Hahaha yer

        • I've had this. After a quick chat, they refunded me cost of postage.

          • @FireRunner: That's lucky. The one and only time I bought online from EB they shipped out preowned versions of games (cracked cases, bluray cases for ps3 games and they still had the preowned sticker) when I paid for new versions and then when I returned them they wouldn't reimburse me for the shipping.

            • @Asterix1: According to Australian consumer law they should be paying for cost of return

      • +4

If you walk into a retail store and ask for a delivery to your home, shipping is free. This isn't well known because it's not advertised but is something I have done multiple times in different stores in NSW.

I've also tried to do it over the phone but they wouldn't budge.

        • Why wouldn't you just take the game home with you at the time?

          • +5

@freoleo: Because if there is no stock in that specific store but is something that you (the customer) can order online, they will make the order on your behalf to your house, for free.

            • +1

              @jikijiki: That's an awesome hack

            • @jikijiki: Really? all I have ever seen is they will look up and call to see if they have stock for you but you have to drive to the store by yourself

              • +1

@freoleo: I should have clarified, use the phrase "order in store" and they should know what you're talking about.

              • +3

@freoleo: Yes I've done it myself as well. It's as if they place an order on their system for you and instead of shipping it to the store, they can put in any address.

            • +6

@jikijiki: Sounds like some Jedi Mind Tricks to me.

  • Final Fantasy XV for $12 on PS4 seems like a good price. King's Tale is same price, but not a lot of stock.

    • Kings Tale is an awful game. Don't go out of your way to get it

      • Probably why it's free on PSN

        • it's free everywhere, also on xbox

    • Seems like a good price. Not sure whether to get the royal edition for $28 instead

      • Go royal, lot of extra content worth it IMO

      • I believe more DLC coming out not included in Royal, so may be worth waiting for Complete edition if you can

  • +2

Wonder if this clearance is related to the troubles from its parent company.

    • Nah, EB Games has old stock clearances every once in a while

      • +1

Sure mate. I give them 12 months.

        • +1

Putnum has a point. These companies are linked. Refer examples of Game traders and Toys R Us..

        • Give them 2 years or so. Long story short I've done a lot of deals and I have about 700 in EB credit that cost me next to nothing, and that's my next gen launch day fund.

tbh EB and their multiple dodgy practices can go belly up a day later for all I care, just make it until then.

          • @TheDukeOfNukem: We can only hope. I only just became level 4 eb world and did that controller trade in so I have some credit. If they go into administration before we spend it then we lose it.

            • +1

@King Steuart: I'm spewin' about that. I have an old DualShock 3 that I threw into a wall like 4 years ago (don't worry it's literally the only time I've thrown a remote, I'm not fully crazy) and the joystick is wobbly as shit and as far as I knew it wouldn't power on any more but I accidentally pulled it out of the laundry the other day when I was looking for another DS3 and found out it charged, turned on, and worked fine (aside from the joystick) and all I could think was it would be just good enough for EB to give me 20 odd bucks for. Damn it.

    • think USA and aus are a very separate branch from each other iirc.

    • +1

Its amazing that they're in trouble seeing how gamestop has a Monopoly…Its kinda like Woolworths going bankrupt

      • Yeah there really isn't much competition in the gaming brick and mortar game maybe 5 to 10 different companies at most?

        • I'm unsure of the USA but looking at the major competitors here for B&M games stores, there really only EB and JB. No one else (Kmart, Harvey, BigW, Toy R US) have any sort of big library of games to speak of. The only other real competitior used to be DS Powerhouse and GAME but they're out of business.

          • @fuzor: The third player would be The Gamesmen.

            • @Trishool: I really dont know if we can consider them as a competitor for JB and EB. The scale is just too different.

They probably couldn't even be considered and B&M seeing as they only have one store in the whole of Aust. Probably more of a small regional boutique game retailer.

  • Payment is declining, any idea guys

    • Using PayPal? Seems to have issues, try credit card

      • +1

PayPal worked fine for me about 3 mins ago. Weird!

Got 3 games and apparently "saved $95". Thanks OP!

    • Never look at saved money always just look at raw expenditure.

  • Sushi Strikers on Switch for $23
    https://ebgames.com.au/nintendo-switch-231777-Sushi-Striker-…

Great overlooked Switch game. If you are not sure, try out the free demo in the Nintendo Store. I really enjoyed it.

  • -3

Was wondering why there was no link to Switch games… till I went and looked… lol @ Switch. Nintendo, you douchebags. This is why I don’t buy games on your console.

  • Can anyone inform which cheapies to get in order to obtain this deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/434970

    • Probably has been hero's

    • Any switch games really cos they're way more expensive

      • Has been Heroes on Switch is not eligible.

        • Maybe cars 3 is? That's also $4 and could possibly be price matched

      • Thats the thing with Nintendo, you'll never really find any of their first party games on sale… until the games are multiple years old. Hell look at some of those old 3DS titles, especially those of Pokemon and some Mario titles… even now the prices are still near full price even on sale lol. Thats what I hate and like about Nintendo, shits expensive.. but resale is always good as well.

  • +3

Shipping kills most of these deals though

  • +2

Thanks went I got stardust VR to go with my psvr

  • Arghhhh!!!!

So irritated, I really wanted Warhammer 2, added to cart and saw delivery costs so picked out a few other games so delivery cost was spread out over the other games, by the time I came to purchase Warhammer 2 was sold out… tears!

  • -1

I just picked up every DS and Xbox One game that was 4 bucks along with Picross 3d 2 for 9 (upon above recommendation). Hopefully it isnt all shovelware. Looked up a couple of games and seemed ok reviews. Total of 16 games for around 80 bucks with a mix of delivery and pickup. I think it's the best I have done since JB sold 360 games for $1.

Anyone keen to comment on any of them? It would really help some of the other casual gamers out.

    • Watch Dogs is quite decent, Sine Mora is an excellent shmup, Has-Been Heroes is trash, Slain is way more fun and well made than that dodgy box art would make you think, can't remember what else was in $4 that I've played.

      • -1

I didn't see slain? My list:

        Xbox One (All $4)

        *Titanfall
*Torment: Tides of Numenera Day One Edition
        *The Evil Within
        Has-Been Heroes
        Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst
        Watch_Dogs Complete Edition
        Just Dance 2017
        Little Nightmares Special Edition
        Sine Mora EX
        *Agents of Mayhem Steelbook Edition
*The Elder Scrolls Online -Tamriel Unlimited

        Nintendo DS ($4)
        Inazuma Eleven Go - Light
        Inazuma Eleven Go - Shadow
        New Art Academy
        *Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash

        Picross 3D Round 2 ($9)

*Denotes things that were available C+C. Hopefully the above spurs some more people to comment.

Also how painful it was to have to put separate orders in to all the different shops I was picking up at, and the fact that you can't order more than 10 items? What the…?

        • -1

Lots of losers buy and resell them hence put limit of purchases

  • Finally managed to get the PC version of South Park: The Fractured But Whole for $12 pickup. Was jealous as seeing the deal previously for it for $9 on XB1/PS4 so an extra few dollars to finally get to play it is worth it!
