I'd been waiting for a 20% off eBay deal to include Shaver Shop again - and hoping they wouldn't jack any of their already discounted prices - which it appears they havn't

So we have a pretty decent price for this premium Sonicare toothbrush

  • Hmm, looking at upgrading my Oral-B 7000? (i think). Battery is pretty much dead (has been for a while); and thus the RPM has dropped dramatically.

Not sure whether or not to go this route (Philips) or Oral-B 8/9000 (~$150).

    • +1

get diamondclean - ur dentist will love you ( or may be hate you coz he wont be making money )

      • I avoid the dentist at all costs 🤣 hmm…

      • Indeed - I had a sequence of Oral B electric brushes for many years and then switched over to the Philips Sonicare about two (now three) electric toothbrushes ago - have been very happy. The Oral B's were completely fine but I did notice the Sonicare's did a better job once I switched.

My first was a "normal" Sonicare (not the DiamondClean) and that's the one that has now died (battery most likely) and is the one my kids use in their bathroom (I'd upgraded to a DiamondClean (the previous/original model)). Now they get my older DiamondClean and I get the new one :)

        • Fine…you've all convinced me.

      • oral-b's remove more plaque from various reviewed studies i think.

    • Bought this last time, its good! Comes with cup with wireless charging pad, carrying case for travel and a few more brushes. It's reallly good quality

    • I was in the same position late last year and then ebay had a 20% promotion at the same time Philips had a $50 cashback which made the Diamond Care very close to the Orab-B 9000 price point so I gave the Philips a go. Must say I've been very happy with the brush. Much quieter than my old brush, I like that it resembles a traditional brush, the apps not too bad when I bother to use it (not very often) and in general the build quality and styling is really great.

If I had any complaint its that the brush heads are a bit harder to come by and stores like Shaver Shop can be inconsistent with stock if you want a specific head, at least in the ACT. They also cost more than the Oral B.

I otherwise like the brush a lot although my prior Oral B was about 8 years old so I haven't tried a newer model such as the 7-90000's to compare what current Oral B's are like (I'd replaced the battery myself about 2 or 3 times over that period, the battery that came with it died a long time ago). I did go through a lot of reviews before making the decision and costs aside, about 80% of what I read seemed to prefer the Philips while Oral B was still a very good candidate.

The carry case for this specific model with its integrated USB cable is also super nice should you need to travel with it.

      • Yeah sweet. Went ahead and made the purchase. Have you attempted using/finding any cheaper alternatives to the genuine Philips heads?

        • +1

I havn't (used any of the clone ones - at least not that I know of :)). I have ordered some on special from Peters of Kensington (when they had them on sale) and also some from Amazon (AU) (also on sale)

          • @Remorhaz: Righto, cheers. What's generally a good price when on sale?

            • +1

@beaver2233: Not sure but I paid $27 for a pack of two of the newer style diamond clean heads on an Amazon sale (not including the extra cashback, etc)

        • +1

No I haven’t. I’ve purchased heads when on sale on eBay 20% sales. Costco also does them occasionally but I’m yet to grab any on sale there.

  • I used the Mrs' sonicare diamondclean and was not impressed. Very pretty toothbrush and charging dock but I feel my teeth were still fluffy AF even after a second round.

Back to my 3 year old cheapie old fashioned grout brush.

  • I got a Flexcare Platinum Bluetooth. The app is total crapp. Connecting to it every time is so unreliable, eventually I got frustrated and stopped using it.

Also, it doesn't register your brushing all the time, so you need to repeat it and touch up a lot for them to be happy.

  • It's showing as 299 instead of 239 for me, how do I get to the correct value?

    • Use the code PASSIONATE at checkout.

  • Really want one for $240 but not paying $350… price-jacked.

  • Yep, looks like it's back at $439?
