  • Off topic but how has your transition from iPhone 4 to V30 gone thus far?

      I've had 10 phones in between. :))

    • I take it reading and analysis isn't your strong point.

  • I and two of my friends all have the Spigen Rugged Armour, and it's been an excellent case so far. I've dropped my phone plenty of times from varying heights with not a mark left on the phone/screen.

They both purchased quality glass screen protectors, I cheaped out and got an $8 one off Amazon and found it extremely difficult to see the screen in sunlight without pumping the brightness wayyyy up. I ended up taking it off after a few days.

    • I've got the same case, it's great.

Ive tried heaps of glass screen protectors, they all sucked in my opinion.

I ended up going with a wet application thing, surprisingly good to be honest.

    • I am currently using the Spigen Rugged Armor on my LG G6 and it has been good as well. Its just a well designed TPU case though and for $20 is a bit much. Pretty sure it was closer to $15 for the LG G6. If getting it I can recommend getting it from pro.gadgets on eBay (especially if you have promo codes) -fast shipping.

Screen protectors will be a little more difficult due to the curved display. My LG G6 was flat which was awesome. I would only buy a tempered glass screen protector as the plastic film ones just don't look as good. Some tempered glass protectors will cover only the flat section of the screen possibly leaving a bit of the screen not covered while some try to cover everything with blacked out sections along the edges and top and bottom. The curved protectors I believe tend to be thicker and leave a bigger gap to the display.

That ebay store has alot of negative reviews saying that the spigen cases are fake.

        • What are you talking about? I went through pro.gadgets negative feedback over the last 12 months. I only saw two claims of fakes.

The case I'm using is the spiegen Neo Hybrid. Up until now I've had tempered glass screen protectors on all of my phones. But with the curved edge on LG V30 the screen protectors don't work well. I tried one name brand and 2 generic ones from ebay. They all sucked. Now im just not using anything and enjoying the phone.

  • i got this gel screen and back protector film on my v30+ its good only for scratches.

I just ordered a Ringke Fusion clear case. I have had these on all of my previous phones and they have been great. I read and watched a few review of the Sprigen cases (neo hybrid and rugged armour) and was not happy about them being slippery and not coming up much on the sides to protect the front. Reviews of the Ringke did not appear to have these issues.

  • Offtopic but anyone surprised how bad the front camera is? I read it was bad but i didn't think it'd be worse than my s3 front cam.

    • Superior to s3 in every way, also who the hell uses a s3.

  • Anyone used this screen protector - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/272973825361
    any good?

    • I bought one - it's OK. It covers the screen from edge to edge and does have a curve to handle the slightly curved edges of the display. My case hasn't arrived yet so I'm yet to know if this will interfere with a case. My main gripe is clarity; my OnePlus One's tempered glass would essentially fuse to the display and was almost imperceptible. This V30+ protector doesn't do that and looks like a plastic shield sitting on top of the glass. It also creates a very fine haze which most people won't be able to see, but for me it makes the UHD display feel more like a 1080p display.

It seems like virtually all edge to edge tempered glass protectors will do this unfortunately, as the adhesive is mostly only on the edges.
