Recommendations for Cordless Home Phone That Will Announce The Caller's Number Instead of Ringing

I'm looking for recommendations for a new cordless home phone that will announce the number of the caller instead of ringing. If you have a phone that does this, what happens if the caller has a private number?

    And depends on budget and brand loyalty. VTech make some call announce phones that are around the $50 mark, but are quite cheap quality wise. If you want a better known brand, Panasonic do a Call ID Announce phone, much better quality and is around the $150+ price range.

    what happens….private number?

    I would imagine that it would say nothing, or something along the lines of “private number”

      Don't you mean 01110000 01110010 01101001 01110110 01100001 01110100 01100101 00100000 01101110 01110101 01101101 01100010 01100101 01110010

      • It might read out;

        70 72 69 76 61 74 65 20 6e 75 6d 62 65 72

        ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      Thanks! We will probably go for the Panasonic - the sound quality needs to be decent as some of the people using the phone don't have great hearing.

  • that will announce the number of the caller

    I imagine that the calling person will probably hang up before it reads out the whole number.

    It won't magically know the number, that's for sure! ^_^

    Like announce it immediately rather than ring first? On the Uniden page it says their cordless phones don't pick up the Caller ID until the second ring, so maybe it is like a technical limitation or something? If it's a private number it says "Call from Private Caller". Your telephone provider needs to provide Caller ID though.

      One ring is okay - I just wanted to get to the number as soon as possible as one of the users takes a while to get to the phone.

      Caller ID is provided by the telephone company so that will be fine.

      I was hoping that "private caller" is announced rather than something like "number unavailable" so that we can more easily distinguish between the not infrequent scammer/nuisance/telemarketer calls and the genuine callers who have a private number.

        I think the Panasonic announces the same kind of thing. I only have experience with my Uniden phone which as you said probably doesn't have that good sound, i didn't realise not all phones announce caller ID.
