PSA: Macquarie Hilton Platinum Discontinued and Black Cards Getting Free International Transaction Fees

Got an email they are discontinuing the Hilton card and introducing no international transaction fees. Seems like existing members they are kicking off the Hilton card get to keep no annual fee for life on the replacement black card. As the black card can earn Qantas points I guess would be the highest point earner for overseas transactions at 1:1 with no transaction fees and no annual fee on the card. Looks like if you choose Qantas points they will charge the full annual fee.

Can't say I'm stoked at losing the Hilton card but this slightly makes up for it.

  • good bye my free Hilton diamond.
I personally prefer the Qantas black but no annual fee and no international purchase fees is a yay.

    • Email mentions HH will extend your current Gold or Diamond status to 31 March 2021.

Used these executive benefits at Hilton GC just recently and it's a fantastic perk!

Buy the way which is the best Hilton Executive lounge in Australia?

You do get to keep the status with Hilton until 2021 if its of any consolation…

    • I wonder if they are extending my upgraded Diamond status, or simply the Gold status…

  • Looks like we're getting the equivalent of this card?: https://www.macquarie.com/au/personal/credit-cards/black-rew…

    • Possibly, but the email doesn't mention all those benefits that are mentioned in the link provided.

      • The lack of information is pretty annoying. I'd like to know the full details of what they're transitioning us to so I can decide whether to keep it or not.

        • Me too, but we will have to wait until we receive the PDS and supporting documents.

  • No annual fee for additional card holders is also one of the new perks:

  • You can choose Qantas card but you will be charged the annual fee. Also, it is 1 pt / $1 spend for first $4000 statement, then $0.5 pt / $1.

I can’t find any card on the market better than this Macquarie Hilton card.

hope we see the Amex Hilton global partnership roll out in Australia.

    • Good point there has been a lot of offers to US HH members for cards. Given we're getting gold/diamond extended to 2021 it would probably be better to churn a card between then and now.

  • Also the new Macquarie card apparently gives acess to 750 lounges across the world but at a fee of $29usd a visit.

Also dont need to have booked flights on card or flying on any specific airlines.

Make sure to spend $12,000 (since card activation anniversary) before 30/04 to get another reward certificate.

  • I’ve already received an email saying HH Diamond status has been extended to 31/3/2021.

If we cancel the new Macquarie Black card now will that have any impact on the HH status?
