      Aussie Broadband
      Phone only nbn™
Local, National + Mobile Calls included
      $50 per month

Seems expensive compare to current unlimited mobile plans available…

If they are already with Telstra they can transfer to NBN with same plan (no internet) for no extra cost.

I do not know any advertised, but they do have these plans.

My 93 year old grandmother, lives in a street full of oldies that dont care for the net.

My Grandmother was on a $40 a month plan that gave her unlimited local calls/Mobile/1300 etc, plus some international. When it was her time to move to NBN, I told this to the Telstra mob, and she is on the same plan. However she still gets data. Ive never pushed it to the limits or anything, but there is now internet at Gran's house haha. This is also the same for her 80 something year old neighbour, was on the same $40 plan, and I got her on the same on migration to NBN.

get the $5/month voip whirlpool plan from mnf
install a voip app on your phone. (built in on google's phone app)
use your mobile data to make calls.

  • Optus do a NBN phone only….

Cheapest option I found for my grandmother was to sign up for TPG's most basic NBN plan at $29.99/m (NBN12, 18 month contract, 10Gb) and add $10/m for 'Oz Talk' unlimited local/STD/mobile calls for a total of $39.99. She'll have a redundant internet service but still the cheapest option for a traditional style landline.
I'll then get a quick re-wire done to reinstate the traditional household phone network. I can explain how to do this if anyone is interested, as I organised it for my Dad and cost was under $100.
