Getting Medibank Insurance for General Dental

Hello guys,

Recently went to the dentist and they have quoted me $450 for a clean, few fissure scalings and a filling. There is a promotion on for Medibank that provides a $200 e-gift card to adidas + waives the waiting time for general dentistry.

I've been quoted 90 a month, only planning to stay on this for 40 days ($120) to be eligible for the $200 gift card.

I'm trying to get the most out of my buck for the period I am with Health Insurance, I plan to use their complimentary clean (which is part of my original quote) and perhaps get further work done if needed (60% claimback). Is it even worth signing up for health insurance to reduce my costs of general dentistry?

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

  • Remember to get them to waive the waiting period…

  • make sure there is nothing in the fine print that means they will come after you if you cancel

  • Confirm the with dentist how much you'll get back and remember there's an annual cap. I'm about to leave Medibank as I rarely get much back from them. My dentist says they're one of the lowest paying funds.

    • Thanks I've signed up and they have given me a $750 limit on extras.

    • and my dentist says that they are the best in the field with paid items (rebates), even including whitening kits. So, I would assume there are as many opinions as many people… Definitely need to consider the level of coverage and limits for each case.
