Monitor for Laptop - Recommendation / Help Needed

I need your help, for monitor which I would like to purchase in next couple of months. I work from home 100%, setup is standing/seating desk table where I need to put my laptop + new monitor screen side by side.

Considerations so far:

  • Purely for work purpose
  • No graphic designing / animation work,
  • Typical day to day job on Laptop with company systems, MS office products, etc.
  • Price range anything between $175 - upto $325
  • Size between 22" upto 27"
  • No fuss about brand
  • I may able to claim through tax as well
  • I see all economical screens @ 60hz max refresh rate, not sure how important this factor is (given my basic usage? for sure NOT gaming)

Obviously like any other Ozbargainer, need best of the best within the price point. I have created poll, basis on my google / research, need your honest feedback folks.

Happy to hear your thoughts, and appreciate your time by sharing few options.

Thanks

    • thanks for the link… what are you thoughts on AOC, as per below offer:

This deal with 27" brings down to $175 only major difference i see is curved option to ASUS (apart from any fine technical part, which i am lease knowledgeable)?

        Dell outlet currently has a 27 inch 1080p for $249 ($529 on dell.com.au) P2719HC.
        https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/
One advantage over the above AOC is it has DisplayPort, USB-C if needed.
Personally 24" is as big as I'd go with 1080p

        • that for the tip on 24" with 1080p. Also sharing Dell site above. interesting offers with Dell there.

Hello Baron-K - what do you recommend between P2719HC and SE2419H available on Dell site?

Why don't you find a list of monitors you like and we just vote in a poll?

    • honestly i can google and get few list and i can do that. Though not sure how accurate that list of choice which google "recommend me" vs rather I take words from the like of you and rest of Ozbarginer folks…

Above all, i won't even know what to look for when it comes to monitors so i thought basis on your experience you may suggest.

    • I did search from my end, and shortlisted 5 options. Simply by review / google based so let me what if you think they are worth or I should stick to few others have started sharing their thoughts?
Created poll as well (first time poster as well here, so let me know if something wrong).

If you still havent bought a monitor, this is a good deal for an Ultrasharp. height adjustable and 1440p.

        • Dammmmm saw your posting too late it seems, it's already 'expired' :( But thanks a lot for your sharing here.

    setup is standing/seating desk table

I highly recommend getting a business-grade monitor (think Dell Ultrasharp series) where the monitor stand provides some degree of tilt and height adjustment.

That is unless you don't mind having a ghetto workstation and piling some old uni textbooks under your monitor to achieve desired viewing height when you are moving from sitting to standing.

Bonus points if it's IPS and 1440p resolution, but it can be quite expensive to have all three features (height adjust + IPS + high resolution usually comes at a premium). E.g ASUS PB278QR is $499 from UMART, $549 from MSY. But you might find it a worthwhile investment if you can claim it on tax.

Or consider getting a monitor arm and any cheap / budget monitor with a VESA mount, that way you won't have to worry about the monitor having a lousy stand.

@nnsha1 - I am in a similar boat and have not been able to finalize yet. BTW, if you are considering curved, have you considered Samsung 27" LC27F390FHEX/XY Curved 1920x1080 4ms HDMI D-Sub LED Backlight LCD Monitor

    • I am not a fan of Samsung so I kept that out of the options from my short listing.

Based on your budget, I'd suggest you to look for cheapest QHD (2560x1440) IPS monitor you can find. My pick would be ViewSonic VA2719-2K, $289.

  • what's your view on this Dell model # S2719H for work purpose:
