Don't forget to use OzBargain's Belong referral system when you sign up to get $20 free credits! :)

    • sorry i am not quite sure how to use this referral system.

Is this Belong code to be used when I sign up at Belong to activate the SIM received?

      thank you!

      • +4

AND you could register one with Ozbargain referral and when activated use your own referral code on registration of the other.

      • +2

yes you should go to the link on my original comment, and click the random link there. It will show you a belong code that you can use as a referral code when you sign up after receiving the sim. You and the referrer (a random ozbargainer) will both receive a $20 bonus credit in your account.

        Hope that makes sense! :)

  • is it easy to port from Telstra? had issues when tried porting from Boost to Telstra last month.

    • Easy as, I port from Telstra every month just not on a weekend.

      • +1

        When the website works….

        • Yep, sometimes I have to go too chat

    • Look like problem with Boost. I had a same problem. When I ported my number from Boost to Kogan. Boost said your number has been ported. When I call Kogan they said you are with Telstra(which I never was) and they are not allowing us to port your number. Almost going to loose my number.

  • What? Actually paying for starter sims without any cashback profit? :D

    • this is a post-paid sim.

  • I'm wondering if I'm able to keep the remaining data if I used this $40 starter kit for the $10 monthly plan?

    • When you use the $40 starter kit, but pick $10 monthly plan right away, you will only get 1GB / month. However, I noticed Belong seems to actually charge the $10 within 8 days (and when that happens, Belong appears to give out another 1GB). I am hoping others can answer my question below. If I went for $40/month initially, could I take advantage of double data and then quickly switch to $10/month. Also, definitely want to use the OZB referral system (it's win/win for both parties).

      • Yes.

      • How come? This $40 starter kit comes with a 15 GB data? Shouldn't it work like the first month I'll get 15GB data, then on the second month, I'd get 1GB for the $10 monthly plan plus any unused data from the $40 stater kit?

        • You only get 15GB if you start with $40/month. Think of it as you get a up to 8 days honeymoon extra data based on the plan you selected.

But, you must switch to $10/month soon otherwise you will be charged $40 for second month.

You do not get 15GB if you start with $10/month right away. I tried it, I only got 1+1 (within 8 days).

          • @netsurfer: You mean I still get charged for $40 in the first month to get 30 GB data?

            • @F-35 Lightning II: Yes - your account will be charged $40 on the large plan, but for the first month this will come from the included credit.
The $40 SIM cards are preloaded with $40 of credit (plus an additional $20 referral bonus if you enter a referral code when activating).
$40 of credit will be used immediately by your account if you select the $40 plan, to get the 15GB, plus an additional 15GB if you time your activation appropriately (refer to Whirlpool Belong wiki for the dates).

              • @[Deactivated]: Actually I think I misunderstood.
I don't know if you still get charged $40 if you (a) activate on the $40 plan to get the initial 15GB, then (b) change to $10 plan immediately afterwards.
Can anyone confirm what happens in this approach?

  • Question, when I tried Belong last time ($10/month plan), it appeared to provide the monthly data allocation right away and within 8 days, they then did the first billing (and at that time, Belong provided another monthly data allocation), just wondering whether they still do that and whether the same applies to $40/month plan? i.e. within 8 days, we can get 30GB total (and only get charged $40).

Assuming yes, and we use the OZB's Belong referral system (thanks OZB) to get the $20 credit, how soon can we then switch to a $10/month plan?

    • +1

That's what I did. You can change plan after the first billing period starts.

      • Thanks… but just to clarify… so once the first bill is charged (normally within 8 days), I can switch? i.e. once I've got 30GB in total, it is okay to switch?

  • How does this work? Is it 40$ per month?

    • When you activate the Sim card you can chose from three plans.

      $10 - 1GB
      $25 - 5GB
      $40 - 15GB

  • -4

$26 for 30GB, is that even worth? when amaysim and kogan 40GB for -$$$$ (cashback)

    • +5

      $13 for 30gb x 2
      data never expires
able to change to $10 plan straight away

      • +1

how you gather $13 for 15xdouble data x 2 sim

        • -1

You even read the deal details?

    • You also get $20 credit by using a referral code. And you get double data for first month.

So effectively $40 credit plus 60gb of data for $26.

      • -4

you still have to pay the $26? You are not getting cash back

        • +1

Alot of people don't have time to dick around sim hopping to new customer cashback phone deals and are happy to have a consistent/ongoing plan.

  • With Belong, can you port out and back in straight away on the same number or is there a delay like Kogan where you can't port back in for 30 days?

    • No limit as it’s not a New User offer.

  • +1

    this is the best way!?

    1. buy 2 sims for 26 AUD
    2. Use the referral from ozb. in sim1.
    3. select 15gb plan.
    4. get my own referral.
    5. use my referral for sim2.
    6. select 15gb plan.
    7. after ~10d shift both plans to 10 AUD/Mo.

I don't know the aftermath in terms of data. Its also possible to change the next month plan before paying the 40 premium?

    • +2

plan before paying the 40 premium - yes
after ~10d shift both plans to 10 AUD/Mo. > do it as soon as you get your extra 15gb.
best to not have both in your name, against terms, if you can put on partners name ( they don't need to use it )

      • Are you sure that we don't get charged $40 as long as we change the $40 plan to $10 monthly plan after activated for 10 days?

  • great

  • +1

$7.80 postage to post an envelope.

    • +2

$19.60 to post 2 of them to Brisbane - this mob are pathetic. Express is the only option too naturally.

  • how does aldi compare? On a $35 plan you get 20gb with same perks?

    • I can't speak for everyone else, but the main benefit of Belong is the data gifting hack with the double data of reduced price starter packs.

I don't think many of the people that purchase these packs plan on spending $40 a month for only 15 GB when you can stay on the $10 a month plan, get these packs for $13 for 30 GB of data, and use your self-referral to avoid paying $10 for 2 months. If you buy a $13 data pack every 2 months you're accumulating 16 GB (15 GB plus 1 GB from the $10 plan) a month for $6.50 on Telstra wholesale.

After 10 referrals you'll have to port out though and may be throwing away accumulated data.

  • +1

Dont think anything compares if you dont use alot of data.

Works out i will pay $20 for 46gb (15+15gb 1st month + 16mths @ 1gb) and 16 months of Unlimited calls and sms, based on the $10 plan over next 16 months. People have used my affiliate code 8 times already, so $160 credit on my account.

Checkout the wiki on whirlpool, gives indepth about billing dates and how to best use to get double data on signup.

If 2 more people use my affiliate code, i’ll have another 4 mths free. $20 for 20mths to me is awesome, specially on Telstra’s 4G.

I was paying $39 a month with Telstra on sim only plan and yeh i got more data, but never used. Wanted to change to lower plan and only option at time was $49 sim only plan.

  • Does the SIM expire 12 months from purchase or 12 months from activation (inserting into the phone)?

    • These SIM starter kit actually starts with $0 balance and the $40 credit needs to be loaded by the seller. The main issue is that Belong indicates that the loaded credits will expire in 12 months. So, to be on the safe side, (assuming the merchant load the credits soon after you purchase the SIM), it is best to activate the SIM within 12 months of the purchase date.

Belong? No thanks! Also Telstra wholesale network is worse than Vodafail in most places!

  • Thanks to belong, my parents can call back home without worrying about limited minutes 😄. Only provider i have seen give unlimited minutes to call that country

  • Is the following correct????

If I am already with Belong and activate these 2 sims (2 new accounts/emails) using my own referral I will get…
2 x $20 credit on my current plan
    2 x 15gb data instantly
2 x 15gb data upon billing (If I check my dates correctly
2 x 2mths of 1gb data on each of the new plans

Which means I get 4mths access (at $10pm) and 64gb of transferred data added to my current plan for $26?
EDIT PLUS ebay cashback from cashrewards/shopback!!

    • EDIT PLUS ebay cashback from cashrewards/shopback!!
      nope don't do it anymore

    • Good idea! I mihgt actually do that!

  • Shipping is free even if you dont have plus.

  • If I change my plan $10/month the previous data from 15gb plan will roll over?
