New Electronic Items on eBay That Seem Too Good to Be True

Shopping for various things for a trip and finding lots of items from new sellers, selling something that is sold by common larger sellers for about $250, for less than $90. Seller has 0 feedback, but I contacted to ask for more info on why it may be so cheap, and to confirm its sent from Australia. He said Do I ask if honey is sweet or simply enjoy it?

What would the likelihood be that something very cheap is either a seller trying to scam, and send a faulty item, or a used item, or not send at all? or possibly stolen? They have many of these items, but are only selling 3 things. His reply makes me more suspicious!

They are as long as they purchase through paypal and credit card, but just a pain if you need to go down that process.

I think you answered your own question in the post. If it sounds like a scam it probably is. Ebay is full of them and you need to cut out your potential loses. Sometimes it is better just to buy it in a store even if you have to pay more for it. At least you get it straight away and can return it more easily. Buy at own risk if your seller is 0 feedback. Sure you have to start somewhere, but not worth the risk as buyer. You'll only regret the purchase if it goes wrong.

  • Yeah its a hard drive, selling for $250 online, being sold for $90. I would take the risk, but need it quite quickly so dont want to be messing around. I wonder if portable hard drives are commonly stolen in stores.

  • mmmm honey

  • It was a scam! the seller has been banned. I did not buy it but some others did. https://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&…
