    filter 4pk for $48 / $12 ea / 150L intervals

    • Are they really only 150 Litres per filter. I had mines for about 4 months just replaced the whole thing with stefani one from bunnings as the filters where cheaper and the capacity was more. that would be a minimum of a filter every two weeks in my household.. jeez.

I'm the opposite, never getting enough out of them time-wise… So I reset the counter. Probably poisoning myself.

        • +1

I'm the same I find cycling through the counter twice is about right

          • @yellowrhino93: .. ”I reset the counter” .. tell me .. are you turning green??

  • thanks i was just about to buy one from big W, would of got ripped off :P

  • Does Ebay Plus free delivery work for anyone on this?

Waiting for Amazon's AI system to price match… (wishful thinking/hoping)

    • why not buy from price setters?

I believe they will price match, i read their business model is to price match all the time so you dont shop else where, kill competition, then no need to discount since competition is dead.

      Dunno if it'll happen.

      • I agree with you, it's better to buy from price setters usually unless there's a sizeable difference in price; I've never been a fan of people who undercut prices. Especially when it's a large corporation that can afford the loss to kill local businesses and take over their market share.

But one of the reasons people here buy from amazon instead of price setters is because they have amazon prime for "free" shipping rather than having to inconvenience themselves with going to a physical store to collect/pay for shipping.

        • yes, and it is pleasure to deal with the amazon customer service and the free return no question ask

      • I do it mainly because I have already paid for Prime and love the service I get from them.

  • It has been my experience that these give the water a bitter taste, but then again the last generation I used dates back to 2012.

I'd love to buy one, but hoping someone could advise if these still make the water bitter?

    • +5

@NeeKeeTa, if your water taste bitter after filtering, it must be something was wrong with the water supply (some chemicals in your water reacted with the filter) or you had fake filters. Many people use these water filters, and if they all get bitter water, the product would have been killed a long time ago. If anything, filtered water should taste better as there is less chemical in it. Maybe you should try filtering some bottled water, or test with a different water source. The most likely cause is something is wrong with your plumbing and it's leaking chemicals into the water.

      • Thank you :) I'll buy one

    • No bitterness in my experience, using those thingies for a few years new, after a great catchoftheday deal.

    This is a good deal.
Just as an FYI for filter replacements -after paying through the nose for years for the original filters we discovered these from kmart that fit the Brita jugs and do the same job as the branded ones, and only $15 for 3 filters https://www.kmart.com.au/product/water-filters---set-of-3/80…

    • +1

Cheers for that info. I'll give them a try :)

      • Good tip. The current filter's been sitting in our jug for about 6 months now cause I can't justify the cost (and haven't bothered just taking it out). I think I can handle $5 each.

    • But are the filters same, like filtration wise? But that's a very good one if they are.

      • They're generic.

Sometimes you can find genuine ones for only $1 extra per filter.

    • +1

Thanks for that. Will give it a go at $15!
Cheapest I've got those maxtra filters is $8 each. I noticed the replacement bar above the jug goes down rapidly, like asking for a change in filter already with just little over a month used.

    • I just stock up with Groupon etc deals.

    • So should i buy the kmart jug as well or still better to get this deal and use kmart filter later?

      • +1

The Kmart jugs are $15 and come with one filter https://www.kmart.com.au/product/3.3l-water-jug-with-filter/…
This Brita is $28 and comes with 3. Up to you but I do know the Brita jugs last a long time and are really good quality.

        • +1

Genius! I dont know why I was waiting for the Brita one to be on sale if I'm going to get the kmart filter anyway.

    • Why not get the Kmart jug as well, surely this one isn't any better.

  • Most stores out of stock around my area.

    • Same price on The Good Guys website, but seems to have more stores in stock.
Also $8 shipping vs. $8.50 on eBay.

  • Are these taste better than puratap?

    • +2

I'm no connoisseur, but I'd take a stab in the dark and say that plastic tastes awful in general. YMMV.

  • Does anyone know if they actual jug itself is made from plastic or glass?

    • -1

      It's all fibre. No glass.

      • +2

        Fibreglass?

        • Not fibreglass surely I feel, feels a higher quality plastic.

    • +1

      It's plastic.

    • Plastic but high quality Copolyester and BPA free.

  • got 3 sets

  • +1

Don't forget to use your $5 eBay Voucher ;)

    • +1

      What voucher?

  • Good deal.

Aldi had the Jug+2pk filter for around $35-$40

  • I just get an error when trying to buy on ebay

  • Thanks Op got me one

  • How long does it take to filter 1.4L ?

    • That will require more than one pouring into the funnel.

To filter the contents of a full funnel might take about 5 minutes. So maybe 10 minutes all up.

  • Does it use same filter, like the previous model?

  • Thanks Op
Thanks to skd100 got it from Good guys store and saved 50C.
$8 shipping whereas $8.50 on eBay.

  • What is inside the filter? Only charcoal or something else too?

    • +1

      Generally a few items

Honest question, but do we need to filter our water in our major towns and cities?

I understand from a cultural perspective, if you have grown up overseas where you just don’t drink the tap water, why some are apprehensive to drink water if it’s not bottled or unsealed. But in most parts of Australia it wouldn’t be a concern.

    • There's no need to filter australian water, even in regional centres.

There are two main factors at play here:
      1) chinese cultural - always boil water before drinking, and filtering is just a natural extension of that.
      2) taste - this is the main reason (for all cultures and backgrounds). The filtered water has no "taste" as such. It is very pure.

Source: me. Previously staunch supporter of tap-water.

      • It's safe to drink out of the tap for sure.

But if you've ever seen limescale in your coffee machine or kettle that's one reason to filter it.

Filtering is not the same as boiling. Boiling kills bacteria. Filtering only filters out particles such as chlorine. It will not turn non-potable water into potable water.

      • -1

I understood the cultural aspect, it’s not just Chinese but common across SEA. Taste I guess is subjective (unless you’re in Adelaide as andygram said!)

My only reason would be if you’re in an area suffering from water quality issues, such as certain towns during drought, contaminated by mining activities, or remote areas without clean natural water sources.

        • +3

I've come from New Zealand and what I can say is that the water from the tap here (Brisbane metro) tastes absolutely horrific compared to what I've been used to in Kiwiland. Just this lime-y, metallic taste to it like you're drinking gutter water from an old sewer pipe. When I actually got around to buying a filter jug like this it made a huge difference and reminded me of NZ water.

    • have you been to Adelaide? we went once…that water is horrid. Our gums were on fire after the first couple days, so we boiled all drinking water and to use for brushing our teeth…Melbourne water is pretty solid though.

    • Water quality at the source is probably fine, but water does travel long distance to reach my taps. Just the other day my water was visibly yellow probably due to some work being done. On those days I like to use filtered water. And my house is old, I don't know if my plumbing is leaching heavy metals or not, Brita doesn't filter everything but it's supposed to at least filter lead.

    • i find the the tap water here can vary quite a lot taste-wise. Using one of these eliminates the variance and i find the taste more agreeable. If you don't like the idea of generic replacement filters, you can buy genuine a lot cheaper than any store stock. I also reset the counter to get 2 goes through the counter on the top of the lid - still tastes fine and most times it's only me drinking the water so no large amounts of filtrates to block the filter

    • You aren't by chance in Melbs East subnurbs are you? For my suburb…I have terrible water quality; hairs, dirt and other unknown floating debris….only ever drink filtered water now.

    • I hate the chlorine taste. That's the only thing I care about and these jugs work to get rid of that smell without having to fill a pitcher and waiting for the chlorine to dissipate.

  • +2

I hope they're Maxtra+ filters and not standard. Standard ones leave a lot of carbon particles in your water.

    • Yes they are maxtra +. Just picked mine up

      • Even the one that's inside the jug?

  • Crap no stock so have to pay for postage.

  • The OzBargain thing to do will be to drink tap water as is. Or boil it, and let it sit.

  • Aldi still has stock from last week re the cartridges. 2 x $17.98. This works out cheaper for 4 cartridges if you’re u buy two 2 packs however no hug. More for people with th the jug already.

  • Recieved it today. This jug is so annoying… everytime you tip it to get the water out the whole lid and funnel fall out of place…a couple of Amazon reviews said this about some of the newer models…I wonder if that's why they are clearing them at this price?

    • You sure it’s in properly?

I have the same model and haven’t had that issue in using it over a week now

      • Definitely in the right way and clips in…falls out every time. Anyone recieved theirs from this deal? Seems like it could be batch related.
