Friends, while this is a good price, this particular series of ram tends to have pretty bad qc in my experiences. in a lot of the kits i used there would be a dead stick. even brands like geil and silicon power werent as bad. if you get a good kit though im sure it will last you, but just keep hat in mind with these ones.

Unusual I know, especially for gskill (i use flare x myself) but yeah, just my anecdote.

Nothing says LOVE more than a couple of RAM sticks! Happy Valentines!

The bigger the RAM sticks, the happier she will be.

    • Overclocked for her pleasure

Thanks OP, when I asked my missus what she wanted for Valentine's day she said "a memory that will last a lifetime" - and now I know what to get her! So excited!

Pity she didn't ask for some good RAM, could have gone a couple of ways :P

  • YAY DDR4 is finally going down !!

    • That's what she/he/it/they/____ said

      • That's funny for several reasons :P

    • Cheap DDR4 has been available for ages..you just had to get it from the US. I bought my DDR4 3000MHz for $145 AUD half a year ago.

  • Why is fancy looking ram so appealing? I'll never look at it and my case doesn't even have a window but I still want it.

    • err, for those with tempered glass cases that sit on top of their computer desks, that do like to look at it and show it off to their family and friends, I guess?

  • Camo coloured RAM sticks??? WHY?

    • So you cant see it :P

      • Shows case off to mates, "Bro wheres your RAM I can't see any?", stealthy.

  • For Ryzen systems with discrete GPU would I need to pay a premium for faster RAM? I understand for the APUs it's a necessity given the RAM is used as VRAM but am not sure about dGPU systems. Can anyone shed some light on this or point me to some analysis?

Ryzen loves faster RAM. Whether you care enough to spend the extra coin is up to you.

Its true that Ryzen systems run better with faster RAM but also dual channel RAM is important so I think these would be pretty decent, you may even be able to overclock them. If your willing to spend more to get faster RAM then do it but personally I wouldn't as the difference wouldn't be that substantial or worth it especially when you can get something like this for $140-150. You would be better saving up the extra and getting a cheaper dedicated GPU like a GTX 1050 ti which would destroy the APU.

      • Thanks guys for your comments! That's really useful.

      • going from 2400MHz to 3200MHz in ryzen is like a 15% performance increase, its not tiny.
