Are there any tricks to getting a cheap room somewhere?

Are you a Crown member? There's an amount you can play where they'll give you a free room. I think it's $5000. They give it to you in non-refundable chips so you've got to play it.

$2500 on red and $2500 black. Do it twice to get rid of all those non-refundable chips. If it doesn't land on green the first or second time, your hotel night is free.

It's an expensive night if it lands on green though!

      • Expensive or free - one or the other and no in-betweens! haha

    • There is every chance I'll play through that much.

    • awesome , could hedge your bet somewhat, maybe 25-50 on the green

    • Unless it keeps coming up on whatever side you've put the non-refundable chips on.

      • Couldn't you just bet on all sides? it should cost you 1/19th of the amount you bet so around $263…

      • The point is to bet both sides at once.

        • Just referring to the red/black scenario.

Assuming you don't hit zero, after one turn of red/black you have $2,500 of non-refundables left.

Assuming you just keep betting your remaining non-refundables, after two turns you'd be at $1,250, after three turns $625, etc.

Eventually you'll hit zero, but you'd need it to be after at least five turns to make it worth your while. By this time your non-refundables would be ~$155. From that point on, losing the non-refundables would be cheaper than just paying for the room.

You've got an 87.2% chance of making it through five turns without a zero (single zero, 36 other numbers).

The gamble is then backing yourself to get through the five turns unscathed.

  • Yeah book through sites like hotel.com, wottif etc to get 5-10% back.

Not in Australia, accom is usually around the market price. Since most casinos are run with hotels as separate departments with their own budgets.

          • @JamesSmart: is this true in australia? or is it just for high rollers or something?

  • If there is every chance you will play through $5k on the tables, why are you worried about getting a discounted room rate for one night?

If you are actually planning on playing through that much, make sure you have your players card in. If you get on the VIP list they will email you a couple of times a year offering you a free night, etc.

    • I only visit Crown once or twice a year… I don't even have a members card!

Im setting a budget of $2500 so guess if my luck is on I'll be right!

Still need a hotel though and I'm a tight ass despite happily dumping money on gambling

      • I only visit Crown once or twice a year…

So do I. I would definitely recommend getting a member's card ASAP, and using it as often as possible.

  • If your looking for crown towers not going to have much luck.. but crown promenade is much cheaper and often have specials.

Sign up to crown direct as they have special deals. Checking for this weekend they seems to have some decent deals and promenade.
