An iPhone App for OzBargain

Hey All,

I am a long time user of this website and have finally decided to actually create an account today. I'm hoping I can finally give something back to a community that has provided for so many great bargains :)

Currently I am yet to find a method that i am happy with, to browse or get ozbargain updates directly on my iPhone (trying RSS feed apps and browsing directly).

I develop iPhone apps (as a hobby in my spare time) and would love to give designing and coding a dedicated ozbargains app a go. The cost to me would be very close to nothing except for my time which I am more than willing to invest. To begin with the app would be fairly basic with a view to create a much more enhanced experience later down the track if the app proves useful.

Would love to hear from people regarding thoughts/ideas/feedback.

Cheers,

Ron

if you sell it for $0.00 and put the RRP of $100 on it, then you can make it to the deal page :D
(if its free always it doesnt get there ;)

    • And then it gets negged because 'it has always been free'. Oh dear, I'm getting cynical!

  • I have made this statement before, I do not have Apple products that allow me to utilize ios. I do, however, have a partner who is a programmer, therefore I can appreciate the effort and work you will have to put into making this accessible for yourself and other OB. With all that verbosity, thank you in advance! Heck, some day down the road I may own an apple product (still love my 5th gen. Ipod) that I can access this for.

My suggestion would be to look at some form of web-based app, so that all users (iOS, Anroid, Win Mob etc) on mobile devices can utilise it. iPhone apps are great, but web apps are universal by nature.

    My 2 cents. Good luck.

Yeah, this OzBargain would be better suited to mobile web than to an app.

Apps excel at performing repeatable actions that don't require web access where as mobile web is much better suited to things that require being online and have frequent updates.
