Never ever buy anything unless there's a special or a discount. That's my vibe.

Too much hassle trying to get money back

      Also regret purchases

  • +9

    0-200 in under 4 seconds.

    • that's a high yield investment

  • +3

These are good. Putting the body fat stuff aside - it’s great for stepping into it and your weight being recorded within the app within seconds. Good to see how trends are going…

    • +2

Nice scale, slightly disappointing it doesn't display any data apart from the weight, but still happy with it. Software wise, not so good - the app requires you to register and the data (who knows what else) is sent back to the company. Fortunately OpenScale have just added support for it…

      • Thanks for sharing that it's now supported on OpenScale. Bought this scale on a previous sale and had similar concerns.

        • newbie here, what is OpenScale?

          • +1
          • +1

@aedalat: An app on the Android Play Store. Seems to measure everything the Renpho app does but without having to setup an account and apparently no sending of data elsewhere.

Location permission needs to be provided to find the scales but can then be turned off with no impact on using the scale. My testing last night and this morning seems to give results closer to what I get at the more fancy scales at the gym and pharmacy which have the handholds so maybe OpenScale interprets the scale data better too?

    • Love it, so easy to use

  • How accurate is the body fat percentage?

    • Not accurate, but hopefully repeatable if you measure at the same time of day and after having eaten/drunken/went to the toilet as previously measured.

      • +9

For what it's worth though, accuracy is an issue with all the methods for measuring body fat percentage - methods available while you're living that is!

        • I studied Anthropometry
    • +2

      Extremely inaccurate.

Even the 3d body scans they sell at gyms are a waste of time.

Dexa is much better but expensive

Bought one thanks, anyone wanna save shipping and able to collect it in Melbourne CBD let me know, I will do you a favor :)

    • I'll grab one?

    • Ye h sure

  • +3

It's free with Prime, but there is no requirement for $49 minimum as it's not from Amazon USA.

  • I just bought these, clicked apply code and it didn’t apply the code. Could the seller retroactively apply it?

    • Worked out it’s because I ordered the white scales. Cancelled and ordered the black. Funnily enough it pushed delivery from Friday to Thursday

  • Thanks OP. Just worked for me through Shopback and the applied code!

Heads up - the app is rubbish according to Playstore reviews. Excessive permissions, ads and BT connection issues with the scales.
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qingniu.re…

Deal breaker for me despite the price.

    • +1

I wasn't happy with my Yunmai scale app (excessive permissions) and was looking at this one. Thanks for your feedback. I am guessing all these cheap Chinese scales make their money by selling our data.

    • +1

I have these scales, the app doesn't have any ads. I haven't had any BT issues either, phone is within a few metres when I step on the scales and as soon as the scales shows my weight it syncs with the app.

No issues with the app so far in terms of what it is supposed to do.

      • Same here, had these scales for a while, app has no ads, no BT issues and it all works quickly and without problems.

    • +1

Even though this is expired, I thought I'd add: I've found the app pretty good apart from asking you to create an account / sign in. Just use fake details if privacy bothers you.

Permissions are not excessive, there are no ads, no connectivity problems. The scales are great value.

(@praga: I'm not sure how much you think your weight measurements are worth. But you can have mine for $5 if you like.)

      • This has been my experience too. Both the app and blue tooth sync are working well. App seems quite decent too.

I have tried to use it with openscale but haven't been able to get it to work. Possibly this is my own user error here. In contrast the Renpho app worked for me from the get go.

  • Are there actual sensors to measure body fat percentage or is it a calculation based on weight?

    New to body fat scales.

    • +1

They send an electrical current through your feet, via the metal contacts, and measure the response, the algorithm used to determine the muscle/fat content varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
The four sensor versions, where you hold a sensor in each hand as well as the two feet sensors, are better as electrical current is always going to take the path of least resistance so usual up one leg and down the other. If you carry most of your weight around your torso it may read low.
Even with this, if you measure regularly, under the same conditions, you will see the trend in weight/fat loss or gain which, in my opinion, is more important than the actual value.
If you build muscle you will see your weight go up, it's good to be able to see that it is positive weight gain and not that extra slice of pizza last night :)

      • I'm interested in knowing how it goes in even more detail telling you fat around organs, skeletal muscles, etc. How can it tell the difference between fat under skin, vs fat around organ??

        • It can't. You need to perform a DEXA or Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry scan in order to differentiate and measure the true percentage of body fat, lean tissue and bone.

The scale just gives you a "meh, I think you have around this much body fat, according to this mathematical formula my manufacturer put in". So you can only use it as a point of reference between measurements, it won't tell you the actual body fat %tage.

  • +1

For people that own this already, how does it handle storing multiple users details?

    • +3

The scales don't hold any data, it's all done through the app. You to have the app open on your phone when you step on the scales to sync the data, so if someone else is on the scales you just need to make sure you don't have the app open and within range.

I forgot about this when my 2 year old jumped on the scales and I can see that I dropped 40 kilos on one of the days. :)

      • +1

Thanks for the quick response, just picked one up! Have a great day :)

      • Maybe a different model or firmware?

“13 Essential Measurements - Scale shows body weight, data including Weight, BMI, Body Fat Percentage stores to app. You can weigh yourself anytime WITHOUT your phone. The data will sync to the app once it is connected again!”

  • App requires location permissions to sync via bluetooth

    • It's possible to work out your location from nearby Bluetooth devices, so Android will show location as a permission when you're giving the app Bluetooth access

      • Ah… Thanks.

  • +3

Bought one of these a few days ago, not on special. Really impressed with it TBH.

I have an iPhone and it syncs into Apple Health. Wouldn't say its permissions are excessive either.

  • Does it support multiple users (family)?

    • Supports multiple users !

I have one and as long as you are suitably far enough apart in weight it won’t get you confused.

  • Looks like a Xiaomi copy

  • I have this, pretty good and connects very easy. Just have the app open when you step on the scales.

    AMA if you need.

  • I have a Pixel 2.
Any more info on if/when the BT connection issues may be fixed?
Would be keen on this deal if I could use it…

    • +1

so i have had these scales for a year now… I also own a pixel 2. They told me a fix was coming one year ago. I wouldn't expect one anytime soon (if ever).
They just sync with my wife's phone so it works for me. Also I should note the seller provided a full refund when I let them know my issues (doubt this will happen now as it is called out as an issue).

      • Fml, I didn't read the full description and I have a pixel 2

        • Ok, just received it. Works fine with openscale on my pixel 2 with latest pie update

  • Op, is it water resistant?

    • Don’t take it into your shower :p

      • +1

It seems to me that you think I asked a stupid question.

Bathroom is prone to condensation and water splashing from bathtub, shower or sink.

Also Fitbit aria has waterproof rating. I'm sure some other well known brands as well.

  • "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

    • All good realised code only works for the black variant

  • Thanks OP. Has been sitting on my watch list for a while waiting for a sale

  • Thanks OP. Bought one. Great price.

  • Oh no, I bought it for $39 not long ago!
It has been working great, highly recommend it.

  • It annoys me that the Aria 2 never really goes on sale when you can get something like this so cheap

  • What's the difference between this scale and this other model, which is more expensive but seems to do less? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01M6A7SRU

  • Anyone in Brisbane want to purchase 1? We can team up and avoid the shipping cost. I live in the Southside (Mt Gravatt) but often go to the CBD and Northside. Thanks

    • <edit>Actually, buying 2 doesn't save much coin, I'll just order my own thanks. </edit>

I work in the CBD and live on the North side. I'm up for shared postage.

  • Read the reviews and says this is much more accurate and precise compared to the digital scales you find for cheaper at Kmart and Target. Good for tracking weight loss progress!

  • Cheers OP, was in the market for a scale to update weekly in my Garmin app.

  • Cheers OP, another good deal from Amazon

  • Is it possible to reuse the code on the same account? I ordered one and want a second one, but looks like the code is single use per account?

  • Man I was just about to make it and then it says code not valid :(

    • Same, just came back to order and gone. Snooze we lose :/

  • +1

Been using this for the past year, very good product, app was kinda iffy to help me sync the scale, but after that its been flawless. I had a dexa scan done and wanted to compare with this scale and its a bit off with your actual weight by about 1-1.5kg, and bodyfat % was about 2.5% lower then actually, but the rest of the stuff is pretty dead on like muscle mass, BMR etc.

    • Weight is so much off!? is it consistent error or random?

  • I’m getting 1kg difference between this scale and the old one. Is anyone else getting this?

  • "high precision sensors measure in increments of 0.2 lb./0.05 kg" The instructions say at 100kg the accuracy is within 400 grams.

  • PLEASE NOTE: The batteries offered are trial version, please replace them within 2 months in order to avoid leakage and damage the scale"
    Be warned buyers!

  • +1

any chance for new code or deal?
