High Pitch Noise Come from Monitor

Hi guys
I just bought a monitor ASUS VZ27VQ from https://www.ple.com.au/Products/630323/ASUS-VZ27VQ-27-Full-H…. Everything is good until I turned the monitor on, the high pitch noise comes from the screen of the monitor as I first turned it on and it changed the frequency when I decrease the brightness or increase the brightness. I have emailed PLE since morning but they haven't replied yet. So I guess I'm just looking for the solution here, does anyone in here know what's wrong with my monitor and how do I fix this?
Thank you

    • Thank you. I guess I'm not the only one got this problem :D

  • Bought a second hand fujitsu monitor that would do this, but also not "catch" the video signal. So go on and off until it warmed up and got the signal. I think my issue were capacitors that were blown. At least your one may be a known issue with the model.

    • Yep, I bought the monitor yesterday and couldn't use it for more than 2 hours because of the noise

  • Most likely a capacitor squeal
Nothing much you can do to fix it. And although it tends to suggest that something's not quite right or imperfect, sometimes it goes away after some time and nothing else will go wrong.

But, worth a try to follow up with the retailer or manufacturer and see how willing they are to replace it for you, all depends on how much time you have and/or can be bothered.

Another thing to do is leave it on as much as possible during warranty period, if something does go wrong, then they'll have to replace it for you. You can also add "I told you something was not quite right with it" in the end.

    • Thank you for the informations. I guess I'm just call them tomorrow and see what are they going to response

      • You're welcome. Hope it all works out for you.

Oh, computer stores are usually more willing to replace an item when you bring it back with all the original bits and pieces. So in the meantime, try and keep all the plastic bags, cable ties, stickers, etc.

        • Yep thank you, I just grab a bunch of plastic bag and stickers from the bin 😂😂

  • Be careful of high pitched humming noise in any electric appliances. Could be a loose/damaged wire humming .
Not sure of your specific situation though.

    • Thank you, that's why I don't use the monitor for all day :D

  • I think its probably a cold solder joint causing issues with high resistance. Could even be a plug of some sort that is not connected proper.

I would say its defective now you just have to wait. The problem will probably fix itself when you try and show them whats wrong lol :p

On another note are you connected through HDMI? Have you checked if the noise isn't coming from the onboard speakers?

    • Yes I am connected through HDMI, and I have tried to unconnected the HDMI but the noise is still there

      • I had some issue from a Nvidia update it activated the wrong output and was hissing so i disabled audio out from HDMI.

        • I've tried everything but the noise is still there, I guess I'm just call them tomorrow since they not replied the email that I sent

  • +1

Have you hit the monitor on the side? Like the Fonz?

    • Eeeyyyyhhhhhhhh!

    • No I did not hit the monitor on the side at all.

      • Sorry, I meant - sometimes hitting something that is not work properly can then fix the problem.

        • oh haha, I brought the monitor to the store today and they gave me the new one. Problems fixed, no high pitch noise but still black bleeding tho.
