Fujifilm X-H1 on eBay: Possible Grey Import Item?

Hey Guys,

Was hoping I can get your opinion on something. I found a really good price on a Fujifilm X-H1 Mirrorless camera which I am keen to purchase:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-NEW-Fujifilm-X-H1-24-3MP-B…

The price seems a bit too good to be true considering it's not on sale/discounted. I'm concerned it may be a Grey import, but I'm not very good at spotting these. I contacted the seller and they said the following:

"New message from: kachashopau (2,782Red Star)
Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry,

We are selling the genuine and brand new item from Fujifilm which was sourced from worldwide. It comes with our company 1-year warranty against manufacturer defects. You may return the item to our warehouse for the warranty issue."

The price of this camera did fall to this amount with Fulfilm's cashback offer last month, but I missed out on it.

What do you guys think?

Yup. Grey import - sourced worldwide, seller warranty (not manufacturer's warranty).

  • Cheers thanks guys!

  • So with Grey Imports its still a genuine Fujifilm product, but you dont get the Manufactures warranty? Or is it a fake item?

    • It's genuine but sourced from overseas so there's no local manufacturers warranty. You send it back to the seller for warranty.

      • Ah right, thanks for that. So I guess Grey Imports can be an okay choice sometimes? Probably not for items that have long manufacturers warranties

  • It sounds like it is a grey import

The quality of the English pretty much guarantees it's not Australian stock.

Used to be that camera companies offered 'International Warranties'…I wonder what that means in the context of this sort of thing. Obviously that's intended to support travellers (ie…I buy my camera in Australia, but on holidays in Europe, it breaks, and I need service, which I can then get locally), but I wonder how it relates in todays slightly more globalised market, and do manufacturers still offer this?

For a good enough discount, I have no hesitation in buying grey. A lot of the price gaps have closed up in the last few years though, so it's not worth it so much as it used to be when we were paying double in Australia.

PS…I haven't looked at FujiFilm gear for a long time, but my, I have severe GAS after checking out their X range over this past couple of months.
