  • I've had constant bad experience with after market toners eventually leaking in various brother printers. The last lot of 3 I bought, all ended up leaking, and I ended up having to throw out the printer as it affected the drum unit as well.
This time I have tried refilling the toner unit with one of the refill kits on ebay, so you are still using the original toner unit. So far so good. Also then no chips to mess around with.

    • How easy or messy is it to refill the toner?

Also what model printer do you have?

      • Was a tiny bit messy. Need steady hands. I have a MFC2750.

  • curious, what does the chip do? is it similar to immobiliser in car?

    • Kinda like OBD in car, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
It monitors the reserves and levels of your current toner cartridge.
The crap manufacturers sometimes put expiry on the chip so they force you to get a new one !@#$%^&*()

  • I was like you once.
In the beginning it was all good! Until one leaked and messed up your printer.
I seldom print stuff at home, so seldom that the toner dried up after a while, so I print at work.
If I print at home, I always hunt for a cheap printer, like the $15 from OW.
You may find the first couple generic toners will do you justice, until you find one that screws your printer.
Actually it finds you instead! When you least expect it!

TL;DR If you like your printer (i.e. expensive, etc.) don't use generics.

    • I believe OP is talking about the monochrome laser printer, not the inkjet colour printer, which won't be dried up because of seldom printing. the culprit of leaking maybe is the failure of the Wiper Blade, which its job is to collect, clean and scrape any residual waste toner from the Drums surface, depositing it into the waste toner hopper; or the transfer roller gets worn out

  • I assume the US Toner version TN760 should work ?

It looks like the US version is cheaper but not sure if it has the chip

  • Worth a try if the seller has high feedback. Just stay away from the ones that are less then say $10.

  • i always buy this replacement toner from a high feedback seller.

Last time 3 toner arrive which cant be print, each time the seller seem to know it has a high fail rate and refund straight away.

The 4th toner arrive ok and I never had leaks in 5 years on my printer.

  • Seller information
    5star-print (2156 )
    99.8% Positive feedback

    Is 99.8% high enough?
