Tips on Reattaching Plastic Boot Trim/Mold on Car?

Sidenote: I use this site so much I feel like forums are basically a Whirlpool alternative so figured i’d get some advice here

So the trim on the back of my car is starting to fall off. Any tips on reattaching it?

Might be answering my own question but google sort of suggests to just heat it up with a airdryer, pull it all off, clean off the adhesive, put on some new adhesive tape and stick back on.

That sound about right? Figured I’d just go to auto barn or somewhere, ask for some tape and give it a go.

Its a Mitsi, detach the trim - keep, then dump the car, so you will be ahead

      Can’t say I wasn’t expecting a comment like this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Automotive double sided tape.

  • If you want it to never move again, use epoxy glue.

But make sure it is the right epoxy. Anything that isn’t flexible won’t hold it. You need an adhesive that is flexible.

Do as you suggested, clean with isopropyl alcohol and use this 3M tape

Yup. Second Elppa8: Use isopropyl alcohol to clean, 3M double sided tape to reattach.

  • Just pull it off, it's like debadging but better!

  • Drill some holes in it and attach cable ties. Instant street cred!

  • I used shoe glue.
