Looking for Comprehensive Insurance 2019 x 2 cars

Happy Weekend everyone.

It's the time of the year again when we dread…. Insurance renewals for our cars and home….
We will do the usual: get a few quotes from a few companies, it's time-consuming and painful, but has to be done.
We dont trust the automatic renewal quote anymore because time and again, it proves that nobody reward loyal customers, well, AFAIK.

If this great community can point me to a company offering deals right now (For early March expiry) would be much appreciated!

P/s- Had checked this site and altho someone has the same title but was for a different/specific purpose.

Just remember that with insurance, cheapest isn't always best! (but you'll only find out when you need to make a claim).

Some of the big name insurers are cheap and some not. Personally, I would stick with the cheapest "established" big name company and avoid the recent companies that have started up with the intention of selling policies for the lowest price. They tend to be the ones with stricter conditions (which could cause problems/delays when a claim is made).

  • There are so many variables when it comes to insurance. What is cheap for my needs is not necessarily cheap for you.

I think the only way is to punch in your details in all the majors websites.

  • Progressive multi car policy, worked out cheap for me

  • My insurance with RACV will run out soon, and their automatic renewals increase from 76$ to 99$ which is nearly 20% more, with no claim made for the last two years. I gave them a call and requested a review; they were willing to drop it down to 88$ which is still kinda upset me. But I am happy with RACV so far. Their reason for increasing premium was due to the increase of car thieves and gang around Melbourne (Can't argue with that). So unless I found any other deals that good enough, I think I am gonna stick to RACV for at least another year

Well, you can as the value of your car is less than last year. So your paying more for less of a pay out.

    Huddle

  • I'm with Woolworths insurance. Been with them for 3 policies. Still the cheapest compared to Coles, TIO (in Darwin), Kogan, AMMI, Shannons. I always do the shop around before I resign. The only thing I noticed on the new policy is that it doesn't include free windscreen replacement. I called WW and they said I have to pay extra. Apparently when I originally signed up you got unlimited windscreen replacement for free but now it is an extra cost.
I also have capped km on the policy. I drive less than 15,000km a year. It brings the policy down by less by selecting the 'drive less, pay less' option.

    • BTW I have not had to make a claim with them yet. I can't comment on how efficient they are with insurance claims.

  • Thanks to everyone who responded. I’ll have to start the shopping process soon….
    Enjoy Sunday!

I'm also in the process of comparing/renewing my car insurance.
I found that while it's not the cheapest one, CGU let you pay monthly premium without extra charge.
This is the second cheapest one so far (12xmonthly compared with other annual premium).
It will certainly help with the cash flow.
I have no experience with CGU insurance so I don't know how good it is.

    • Huddle does too

    • Hubby use CGU for his car, not the cheapest as you said, but he loves it because they allow him to use his own Mechanic if something happened.
Thank Goodness he never had to use any Mechanic.
Didnt know about the monthly payment, always paid one lump sum. Must check next time. Thanks for the tips.
