27" USB C 4K Monitor

Hi all,
I'm looking for a 27" 4k monitor with USB C port. I want something that can be powered by the USB C port on my desktop to avoid cable clutter & have a neat desk. This isn't for gaming so 60hz would suffice. USB port hub would be idle but not a must have. I need good color reproduction & viewing angle as it'd be a secondary screen for extending my main display. My budget is around $800.
Thanks

  • You can get a single cable that could connect most monitors to your USB-C port
I have a Display Port to USB C cable for my monitors
you can also get HDMI-USB-C Cables etc
Just find the monitor your want and see if you can get a cable to suit.

as for "powered" I assume you mean can use the USB-C port for data etc.. no such thing as a monitor that doesn't need to be plugged into a power outlet for "power"

    • Think they mean it can power/charge the laptop it'll be plugged into.

From how I read it, it sounds like OP wants one cable to rule them all. To run both data AND power the monitor. I just can’t see a 27” monitor that would run off USB C cable on its own from a USB port on a desktop.

        • Ah, k. Yeah, I don't believe there are monitor that do that (although it should be possible? I know the cable can charge and send data to laptops, and I believe monitors are generally less demanding)

      AOC E1659FWU 15" 16"

  • not sure if anyone has done a 27" one yet.
    I know AOC makes few at 15.6" (https://au.aoc.com/product_469_E1659FWU_monitor_AUSTRALIA.ph… https://au.aoc.com/product_5346_I1601FWUX_monitor_AUSTRALIA.…)
looking at a few seems most of them are going the other way and making the monitor a hub and charger for your tablet/laptop/phone

Dell does a few. I've always been impressed by the good panel quality.

Have a look at the Dell S2719DC ($608.30) and U2719DC ($939). The S2719DC is targeted at home/small office users while the U2719DC is targeted towards business users.

These go on sale at the Dell outlet every now and the, so if you're not in a rush, I'd wait for them on the Outlet (https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/MonitorsStockRoomDetails?~…)

  • I currently own a 27" 4K monitor. I think 27" is a bit too small for 4K without at least 125% scale. I think 32" is the perfect size for 4K.

  • Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. I was indeed after a monitor that I could power from my desktop's USB C port. I guess Pegaxs is right that 27" 4K monitor power draw is way much for a USB C port. I would still want one USB C port hub for less clutter. I am still looking but all monitor I found only support single USB C port. So far, I've narrowed it down to these models:

    HP Z27 2TB68A4
    ASUS - MX27UC
    Dell UltraSharp U2718Q
    LG - 27UK850-W

leaning towards the LG one as reviews are pretty good and price is within the budget. Any with experience with one of these, feel free to chime in with your feedback.
