Some people have been relying on Apps like google maps to navigate and tend to get speeding fines by not realising they are speeding.
An App like Here We Go, displays the current speed and can give speed alerts while you drive. It also works with online or offline maps

Here We Go just has the normal speed limit for that stretch of road, it doesn't handle variable speed zones when the speed limit is lowered or short term road works. Long Term road works seem to work.
I normally just use it with the screen off and just use the audio for directions, the alerts are also just single warning tones when you go over the speed limit.
I agree keeping your eyes on the road is the best option. so using the speed warning tones works for me.
But I'd probably miss some social messages if I do that.
Nice idea but we're looking for real solutions, not something as impractical as you suggest!!!
Perfect. I just installed a new android head unit and the installed navigation is gammon. I am looking forward to trying this one.
Plenty of others on play store… OsmAnd is another good one.

Speedometer in front of the driver, usually round and has a pointer that moves.
Cute, I guess you have never driven out of your driveway and came back a few minutes later to check if you locked up.
I used this to drive the south of spain and it worked a treat without a data connection.
I've been using it ever since for my overseas travel, i love it.
So…..does this app have temporary speed limit changes due to road works etc…? or would it still be better for me to actually look out of the windscreen (from time to time - not all the time, that would just be crazy) to see if any speed signs are actually erected on the road I am driving on ?
