Can Powerline Adapters of Different Brands and Speed Work Together?

Lets say I have a couple of TPlink AV500 and Dlink AV1000 adapters. Will all of them work together?

Yes you can generally mix and match Powerline adapters but will find a great decrease in speed due to interference. Generally best to keep a matching pair upstairs and a matching pair downstairs if you can and no more than that.

    • thanks. cheers!

    Google is your friend…
Poweline adapters have been in existence for almost 10-15 years so you can't be the first to wonder if this was possible.

  • In my experience, it depends. I have a pair of Netgear AV200 and another pair of a different brand, I can't remember whether it was TP-link or D-link. Anyway, one brand has encryption turned on and no way to turn it off, so the unencrypted pair could not talk to the encrypted pair. YMMV.
